Day 1: Arrival Day. Transfer Verona to Dolomites. Walk Compaccio - Alpe di Siusi - Ortisei

WALK GRADE: Walk 8kms. Hours 3 hours. Medium Grade. A good to Excellent level of fitness is required.

TERRAIN: Some elevation gain, uneven paths, and steep sections, but it’s manageable for most hikers with a reasonable level of fitness.

WALK ITINERARY: Meet our representative in Verona at 7.30am in the foyer of the Hotel Milano & Spa Verona from here we transfer (2.5 hours drive) to Siusi where our adventure begins. We take the chair lift up the mountain taking in spectacular views along the way. Walking along the Alpe di Siusi is a captivating Alpine adventure that immerses you in the breathtaking beauty of the Dolomites. As you set out from Alpe di Siusi, Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine meadow, you’ll be surrounded by a vast expanse of rolling green fields, dotted with wildflowers in the summer and dusted with snow in the winter. The trail meanders through lush meadows and dense forests, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. As you ascend higher into the mountains, you’ll catch glimpses of towering limestone spires and rugged cliffs, typical of the Dolomitic landscape. We make our way to Mont Seuc Restaurant where we will enjoy refreshments. But the adventure doesn’t end there; the icing on the cake is catching the cable car down to Ortisei. This exhilarating descent provides a bird’s-eye view of the stunning landscapes you’ve just explored, as you glide down the mountainside, ultimately arriving in the charming town of Ortisei. Our accommodation for the next 3 nights at the Hotel Alpenheim Spa and Hotel or smilar a charming hotel nestled at the base of the majestic Sassolungo Mountain in Ortisei offering spectacular views over the Dolermites.

Day 2: Walk Sentiero delle Odle - Helicopter Experience

WALK GRADE: Walk 16.5kms. Hours 5 hours. Medium Grade. A good to Excellent level of fitness is required.

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole loop walk today, we also offer a shorter out-and-back walk of approximately 8km

TERRAIN:  Forestry and farm track in the lower areas. Higher areas have paths through pasture, woods, and across scree. Some elevation gain, uneven paths, and steep sections.

WALK ITINERARY: Indulge in a satisfying breakfast at our hotel before embarking on today’s captivating adventure, a loop walk along the renowned Sentiero delle Odle. This trail is celebrated as one of the most breathtaking routes within the Dolomites, allowing ample time for walkers to immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring scenery. Along the way, it gracefully traces the base of the majestic Odle mountain group, characterized by its countless towering spires and rugged, jagged outcrops, all while being shrouded in lush, dark-green coniferous forests. As you commence your journey, you’ll also encounter the much-photographed St. Johann church, a historical gem dating back to 1744, graced by its distinctive baroque onion-domed bell tower, set against the magnificent backdrop of the Odle Peaks. Afterwards, we join a spectacular helicopter flight to see the magnificence and grandeur of the Dolomites from the air. Get a birds-eye view of this stunning UNESCO World-Heritage area. We then head back to our accommodation in Ortisei. Enjoy time for a swim before joining the group for dinner in the restaurant served with Italian wines.

Day 3: Circumnavigate the Sassopiatto-Sassolungo

WALK GRADE: Walk 18kms. Hours 6.5 hours. Medium Grade. A good to Excellent level of fitness is required. Ascent/Descent: 850m

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole loop walk today, we also offer a shorter out-and-back walk of approximately 8km. Alternatively, you can also choose to opt out of any day’s walk and enjoy time in the village of Ortisei or relaxing at your accommodation.

WALK ITINERARY: Following a delightful breakfast, we embark on today’s adventure, a captivating circumnavigation around the majestic Sassopiatto-Sassolungo massif. The Sassolungo, often likened to a Gothic Cathedral with its dramatic rocky spires and peaks and the centerpiece of today’s walk. Gazing up at the mountains, one can easily discern the northernmost block as a colossal head, with the points to the southwest resembling an outstretched hand, famously known as the Cinque Dita, or “five fingers.” Along our path, we traverse ancient shepherd’s routes, punctuated by welcoming mountain huts that provide unparalleled panoramic vistas. Don’t miss the opportunity to encounter the superbly carved statue of King, adding a touch of historical intrigue to this remarkable journey. Afterwards, we return to our accommodation for a relaxing evening including dinner and wine.

Day 4: Walk across the Puez-Odle Altopiano

WALK GRADE: Walk 14 kms. Hours 5.5 hours. Moderate to strenuous Ascent 500m. Descent 1150m. Grade 2.

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole loop walk today, we also offer a shorter section walking to Forcella de Ciampei of approximately 10km.

TERRAIN: Terrain consists of expansive plateaus and meadows, rocky trails. Changes in elevation.

WALK ITINERARY: After a hearty breakfast we head to today’s walk. We take the cable car  up the mountain saving 700m in ascent and saving lots of energy for our walk – the views along the way are spectacular. Walking across the Puez-Odole Altopiano in the Dolomites is like stepping into a dreamscape where colossal limestone peaks pierce the sky, and lush alpine meadows smothered with wildflowers of purple asters and bellflower carpet the land in vibrant hues. Here, nature unfolds in a symphony of breathtaking beauty, with crystal-clear streams and mirror-like alpine lakes reflecting the surreal, pale-hued Dolomite rock formations. As you meander through this remote wilderness, the serenity envelopes you, punctuated only by the occasional sighting of wildlife, the discovery of charming mountain huts, and the ever-changing panorama of majestic mountainscapes that beckon you forward, offering glimpses of a world both ancient and timeless. Once we reach the second peak enjoy magnificent views across the Vallunga, a stunning U-shaped valley. Afterwards, we make our way to the charming town of Cortina with our accommodation for the next 3 nights at the charming Hotel Poste ideally located in the piazza. Tonight enjoy a relaxed dinner in the restaurant accompanied by Italian wines.

Day 5: The Tre Cime di Lavaredo Loop - Free afternoon Cortina

WALK GRADE: Walk 10kms. Hours 3.5 hours. Good to Excellent level of fitness required. of fitness required. Ascent/Descent 340m. Grade 1-2.

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole loop walk today, we also offer a shorter section walking out and back of 5kms. Alternatively you can also choose to opt out of any day’s walk and enjoy time in the village of Cortina or relaxing at your accommodation.

TERRAIN: Trail often passes over rocky terrain, including scree slopes and boulder-strewn sections and on gravel paths. Changes in elevation.

WALK ITINERARY: Begin your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel, preparing for an enchanting walk on The Tre Cime di Lavaredo Loop. The magnificent Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one of the most photographed landmarks of the Dolomites with three massive rocky outcrops often likened to an Egyptian Colossi. This walk is one not to missed and has views of picturesque alpine lakes and quaint mountain churches, with every turn like a picture postcard view. After our walk enjoy some free time to stroll around and explore the alpine township of Cortina at leisure. You may like to explore its charming town center, with its traditional Tyrolean architecture, boutiques, and the Paleontologico Museum dedicated to the region’s paleontology and natural history. Later in the evening, indulge your taste buds with a delectable dinner with Italian wines, all within the warm and inviting ambiance of our charming hotel. Reflect on the today’s memorable journey.

 

Day 6: Walk to Lago Di Sorapiss

WALK GRADE: Walk 12.5kms. Hours: 5 hours. Good to Excellent level of fitness required. Ascent/Descent 750m. Grade 2-3.

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole walk today, we also offer a shorter section walking out and back of 8kms however you will need to walk the whole 12.5kms if you want to visit the lake. Alternatively you can also choose to opt out of any day’s walk and enjoy time in the village of Cortina or relaxing at your accommodation.

TERRAIN: Trail often passes over rocky terrain, including scree slopes and boulder-strewn sections and on gravel paths. Changes in elevation.

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast we enjoy another fabulous day of walking. Today we walk to Lake Sorapis (Lago di Sorapis). This breathtaking alpine lake is renowned for its stunning turquoise waters, which are a result of glacial meltwater and the reflection of the surrounding limestone cliffs. Surrounded by rugged and towering mountain peaks, Lago di Sorapis is a serene and picturesque destination. The trail leading to the lake offers a rewarding and challenging trek through lush forests, rocky terrain, and alpine meadows. Along the way, we are treated to panoramic vistas of the Dolomite mountains, creating a sense of awe and wonder. Once you reach the lake, you’ll be greeted by its crystal-clear waters, which often have a surreal blue-green hue. The lake is relatively small but exudes a sense of tranquility and remote beauty. Afterwards we enjoy the return journey to the start. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure before joiing the group for our last celebratory dinner served with wine.

Day 7: Walk The Cinque Torri Walk - Verona

WALK GRADE: Walk 8kms. Hours: 3.5 hours. Moderate to Good level of fitness required. Ascent/Descent 400m. Grade 2-3.

FLEXIBLE WALKING: For those not wanting to do the whole loop walk today, we also offer a shorter section walking out and back of 8kms. Alternatively you can also choose to opt out of any day’s walk and enjoy time in the village of Cortina or relaxing at your accommodation.

TERRAIN: Trail often passes over rocky terrain, including scree slopes and boulder-strewn sections and on gravel paths. Changes in elevation.

WALK ITINERARY: This morning we farewell our hotel after breakfast as we make our way to our last walk of the trip. We make our way up the mountain by chairlift this morning. Today’s beautiful loop walk takes us to the Cinque Torri – translated as the 5 towers. Despite the name there are actually 11 in total if you count the smaller columns. Over a century in the past, the Cinque Torri found itself embroiled in the conflict of World War I, serving as the battleground between Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces. Amongst the towering formations, bunkers and trenches were artfully constructed, and even after the war’s conclusion, these vestiges endured. More recently, concerted efforts have been made to restore these historical remnants, transforming the Cinque Torri into an open-air museum dedicated to World War I, aptly known as the Museum of the Great War. Afterwards, we make our way back to Verona the end of a memorable journey.

EARLYBIRD CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations are not permitted for Earlybird Deals or Spot Specials, however, transfers to another date are permitted 12 weeks or more prior to departure. We advise taking out travel insurance, in case unexpected circumstances prior to the trip, prevent you from joining this tour. Early bird or Spot Special discounts cannot be used in conjunction with another offer. To receive these special discounts, full payment must be made at the time of initial booking.
