Our 6-day, pack-free guided walk unveils soaring red escarpments, shadowed gorges and rugged summits in spectacular style, inviting you to experience this ancient landscape at a relaxed and rewarding pace.

A vibrant landscape with green trees and purple ground cover, set against rugged, reddish mountains under a partly cloudy sky—perfect for walking tours where you’ll discover that life’s an adventure at every turn.

At the heart of this extraordinary region lies Wilpena Pound, an 83 sq km natural amphitheatre encircled by dramatic stone ramparts. For the Adnyamathanha people, Wilpena (meaning ‘place of bent fingers’) is sacred country, where ancestral spirits move through the land and creation stories continue to shape culture and identity. It is a powerful presence, one you are certain to feel as you walk beneath towering ridgelines and through quiet, timeless valleys.

A blue helicopter flies over a scenic landscape with trees in the foreground and red rock formations in the background under a clear sky, offering breathtaking views to those who prefer sightseeing from above rather than embarking on Life's An Adventure guided walking tours below.

You will follow sections of the Heysen Trail, discovering secluded gorges, ancient creek beds and sweeping views from the rim of the Pound. With only a daypack to carry and your main luggage transferred for you, each day is devoted to exploration and immersion, allowing you to fully appreciate the rich textures, colours and vast skies of the outback.

A couple relaxes in a swimming pool overlooking the scenic landscapes of the Flinders Ranges, with mountains and trees under a partly cloudy sky. The tiled deck is bordered by a fence, offering outdoor seating for those unwinding after their Flinders Ranges walking holidays.

You will spend three nights at Wilpena Pound Resort, the only accommodation located within the boundaries of Ikara–Flinders Ranges National Park. A further two nights are spent at Rawnsley Park Station, where you can soak up sweeping views of Wilpena Pound while enjoying a well-earned drink as the sun sets over the ranges.

A round black plate on a wooden table holds sliced, medium-rare steak topped with white sauce and herbs, akin to the fine dining experiences found during Flinders Ranges Walking Holidays, accompanied by asparagus wrapped in thin prosciutto.

Evenings bring comfort and warm hospitality, celebrating regional produce with paddock-to-plate dining and fine South Australian wines. Blending ancient terrain with thoughtful modern touches, this six-day journey promises an unforgettable walking experience.
