Wilderness getaways for mums, daughters & girlfriends

May 14, 2021

If you’re looking at getting away with your mum, daughters and/or girlfriends and are tired of heading to the same resort every time why not try a pack-free guided walk?!

Not only will get away from it all, it’ll be at walking pace giving you plenty of time to catch up with your friends and family, before heading back to your lux accommodation for hot showers and cold wine.

So here are five perfect pack-free guided walks for your next girls’ getaway.

First up, it’s the 3-day Byron Hinterland Walk in northern NSW. Did we say Byron? Yep, the trip starts there so arrive a day earlier and enjoy this friendly town. From there you’ve driven into the hinterland to explore the natural wonders of Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area. As for accommodation, Nightcap Lodge will make you very content.

Next up, is the 3-day Scenic Rim walk, just across the border. The Scenic Rim is a group of forested mountain ranges forming an expansive quarter circle ridge and offering grand vistas. You’ll explore breathtaking mountain ridges, lush rainforests and ancient volcanic plateaus. And you’ll be staying at the stunning Bunyip Scenic Rim Retreat.

No.3 on our list is the 3-day Noosa and Sunshine Coast Hinterlands Walk. You’ll explore a range of landscapes in beautiful Mapleton and Woondum national parks with their tall open forests of blackbutt, scribbly gum and palm groves. And you’ll have two nights at Noosa Eco Retreat.

If you’re on the west coast or don’t mind the longer flight, our no.4 pick is the 4-day Cape to Cape walk along the Margaret River region famous for its boutique wineries. You’ll wander along high limestone cliffs offering dramatic views, and meander through pretty coastal heathland and idyllic forests. Accommodation is at the 5-star Pullman Bunker Bay Resort.

Our final pick is our 3-day Bay of Fires walk in Tassie. It’s an easy flight to Launceston and from there you’ll be whisked away to the magnificent east coast to explore pure white perfect beaches, vivid orange granite boulders and a ribbon of sapphire and emerald seas. Best of all you’ll be staying at Life’s An Adventure’s very own waterfront beach shack right in front of the Bay of Fires!
