With 700 kilometres of stunning beaches and a variety of inland trails, this tour has been carefully designed to showcase the region’s highlights, offering a blend of coastal beauty and cultural heritage.
Over the course of four days of walking, you’ll discover the Peninsula’s most captivating landscapes, from tranquil beach retreats to rugged national parks. Walk along picturesque shorelines, where white sandy beaches and turquoise waters invite you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty. Inland, explore trails that take you through old mining villages and breathtaking scenery, providing a glimpse into the region’s history and diverse landscapes.

We have designed this walking holiday so you can enjoy the scenery without the heavy burden of carrying your clothes or a heavy pack. Walk with as little as your camera, lunch and water each day and we will take care of your bags being transported to your accommodation.
4 night stay
The Marion Bay Tavern and Motel is a family-owned and run business and situated in beautiful Marion Bay, 282 kilometres from Adelaide on the Yorke Peninsula. The ambience is warm and welcoming, with a magnificent view of the jetty and adjacent beaches, and was built with a unique blend of materials including former jetty pylons, corrugated iron, and liberal use of jarrah timbers. The Tavern’s already remarkable reputation for fine food and good service is enhanced by the inventive and fresh menu.
Boasting indoor and outdoor, relaxed all-weather spaces The Tavern also has a fully licenced restaurant, fine wine, bar, all day wood fired pizza, take away liquor, all Foxtel channels, a courtesy bus on request and quality tea and coffee, 5 spacious motel rooms each with a queen and a single bed, equipped with all modern amenities.

Your 5 day walking holiday includes:
PRE-DAY: Book your flights to arrive in Adelaide the night before your tour.
SUGGESTED PRE-TOUR NIGHT HOTEL: We suggest the Mantra Hindmarsh Square Adelaide; this is also our meeting point at 10am on the first morning of the tour.
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 2 hour transfer to Clare Valley for lunch. 1 hours transfer to Port Wakefield for short stop. 2 hours transfer from Port Wakefield to Marion Bay.
ITINERARY: This morning, our transfer company will meet you in the foyer of the Mantra Hindmarsh Square at 10am. We depart Adelaide and travel 2 hours to the charming region of the Clare Valley for a wonderful lunch and wine tasting. From here we head on to Port Wakefield where we enjoy a short stop (and connect with those from the 10 day Flinders Ranges and Yorke Peninsula walk. After we all come together and head to Marion Bay our accommodation for the next 4 nights at Marion Bay Motel & Tavern, a lovely family-owned and run business with magnificent views of the jetty and adjacent beaches. Tonight we’ll enjoy a delicious a la carte meal at Marion Bay Tavern served with local wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 18km approx combined walks, around 5 hours walking with breaks. Easy Grade.
TERRAIN: Mostly gentle formed pathways
WALK ITINERARY: After a hearty breakfast at the tavern, and with packed lunches in our day packs, we head out directly from the motel. We’ll walk into the Innes National Park adjoining Marion Bay and follow a coastal trail towards Stenhouse Bay with its long jetty that is associated with gypsum mining and export. We’ll continue on from here with the cliff top loop known as the Stenhouse Bay Lookout Walk. As the name suggests there are multiple stunning lookouts with views across Investigator Strait. From here we’ll backtrack a little to locate the Thomson Pfitzner Plaster Trail Hike that follows a disused railway line through to Inneston offering further interpretive signs along the way about local history, particularly its mining past. Here we can explore the Inneston Historic Walk at our leisure taking in the structures and ruins of this once thriving village. This walk will be approximately 18km on mostly gentle formed pathways, returning to Marion Bay by mini-bus. Tonight we’ll enjoy another lovely a la carte meal at Marion Bay Tavern served with local wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 13km approx combined walks, around 4 hours walking, Easy Grade.
TERRAIN: Mix of bush tracks and formed pathways.
WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast, and with packed lunches in our day packs, we head back out to Pondalowie Bay for the start of our walk today. Here we’ll see spectacular coastal views into Spencer gulf on the 4km return to Royston Head Hike. If we feel like it we can also complete the 1km loop of the West Cape Headland Hike where we’ll reach the West Cape lighthouse. If we’re lucky we may even see dolphins surfing at Tommo’s Break. Before returning to our accommodation for a well-earned rest we’ll stop to look for the wreck of the Ethel, a three-masted iron barque that ran aground here in 1904. It may be covered in its usual blanket of sand, but if so we’ll certainly see her anchor on display at the lookout above. Tonight enjoy an a la carte dinner at Marion Bay Tavern served with local wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 15km, 4-5hours walking with breaks, Medium Grade. Shorter options available.
TERRAIN: Mix of beach walks, clifftop trails and natural surface track.
WALK ITINERARY: After a leisurely breakfast we’ll drive to Dunn Point to start our final walk in the area down to Swincer Rocks. Some of the best surfing beaches in South Australia can be found here. During this section keep eyes peeled for dolphins enjoying the waves. You will experience some spectacular scenery along this coastline and see a variety of flora, fauna and birdlife. There is a mixture of walking terrain alternating between natural surface tracks and beach walking. At the end of our walk today we’ll drive back (30-minute) to meet in the tavern at Marion Bay for a celebratory drink at the end of our ‘Walk the Yorke’ four days of hiking. A la carte dinner at Marion Bay Tavern served with local wines.
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 1 hour from accommodation to Bluff Beach. Midday: 1 hour to Port Wakefield. Afternoon: 1h30minutes to Adelaide.
TRAIL NOTES: Bluff Beach to t 3-hour walking, Easy Grade.
TERRAIN: The track climbs gently on a compact rocky base, with a short downhill to complete the circuit.
WALK ITINERARY: Today we’ll return to Adelaide, but before doing so we’ll enjoy a walk from Bluffs Beach to Bamboo Beach. This coastal walk will take around 3hours. For lunch, we’ll stop at Port Wakefield, a coastal town of the Adelaide Plains. The town is located approximately 100kms North of Adelaide. Steeped in history, the town was created to cater for the needs of the early settlers. With the development of the agricultural, mining and later the fishing industries of South Australia, Port Wakefield became the pivot point for such products. Afterwards, we return to Adelaide where our journey concludes. After a fabulous five days we hope you’ve enjoyed the full experience of the Yorke Peninsula.
FINISH TIME: Arrive back into Adelaide by 5pm.

If you are a solo traveller willing to share a room, we will attempt to match you with another solo traveller of the same gender. If we can’t find you a match of the same gender by around 8 weeks prior to the tour, you will be charged the single supplement cost.

Refunds or cancellations are not permitted for Sale Tickets however, transfers to another date are permitted 8 weeks or more prior to departure. * A deposit of $300 per person is required to secure your booking. (unless taking advantage of Earlybird or Spot Specials in which full payment is required at time of booking).

* Prices are based on twin share of rooms. If you are travelling solo you may be required to share with someone of the same gender. If this is not suitable you can request to pay a single supplement, however, limited single rooms are available per trip so are on a request basis.
