At the southernmost tip of Australia lies the spectacular peninsula of Wilsons Promontory National Park. Covering over 50,000 hectares this National Park is a landscape of rugged granite mountains, lush rainforests, pristine beaches and stunning coastline. Fringing the coastline also lies the Wilson Promontory Marine National Park which protect a network of underwater rocky reefs, colourful sponge gardens as well as offshore islands that support colonies of fur seals and penguins.
This 3 day walk has been carefully designed so you can experience a range of landscapes in the National Park from the mountains to the sea. On land you will enjoy a range of walking experiences discovering the spectacular landscapes of the north, west and east. Whilst by sea we will explore by boat to fully appreciate the beauty of the Marine National Park and access areas of the park not usually available in a day.

Spectacular Cruise and Walking
The beauty of this tour is that it has been designed to encapsulate the best of land and sea of Wilsons Promontory. We’ve incorporated a wonderful cruise which allows us to access areas in the National Park that we couldn’t reach within a day. This gives us the opportunity to explore further without the need to carry overnight packs, as well as appreciate the beauty of the Marine Park that fringes the National Park from the sea. Our cruise boat drops us off at Refuge Cove, so we can walk to Sealers Cove then head back inland to our vehicle.
Our tours are designed to be personal and intimate with a maximum group size of 8 people.
Our guides are proudly 100% Victorian. We call them our CEOs – Chief Experience Officers and it’s their job to ensure your tour exceeds your expectations. Meet your guide at our central Melbourne Hotel for transfers to Wilsons Promontory. Today our first stop is the Prom’s most famous beach, enjoy walking along pristine white sands of Squeaky Beach (it really does Squeak) and see the pretty lichen covered boulders, a great place to enjoy lunch. Afterwards we walk from Darby River to Tongue Point and then on to Darby Saddle offering magnificent forest and coastal scenery. Descend steeply through flow-dotted coastal heathland to beautiful Tongue Point a head land jewelled with tumbled boulders of weathered granite. Walk through stunning casuarina and stringybark forests and discover amazing views of the pyramid-shaped Rodondo Island from Sparkes Lookout before reaching Darby Saddle. From here we transfer to our luxury accommodation at the Church House Gourmet Retreat with 270-degree views of rolling hills, Wilsons Promontory and glimpses of Bass Strait. Tonight enjoy a paddock to plate experience created by owner Mary featuring perfectly matched wines. A wonderful way to finish the day.
The beauty of today’s walk is that you will be able to visit areas of Wilsons Promontory National Park that is usually only accessible by those carrying heavy packs and overnighting in the park. After a hot and cold breakfast we enjoy an early morning transfer to our cruise boat to enjoy a spectacular cruise to Wilsons Promontory. This morning you will appreciate the beauty of the Marine Park from the sea as we cruise around Wilson Promontory. From here we head to the stunning secluded area of Refuge Cove where our boat drops us off on the beach and we start our one way walk via Sealers Cove inland to our vehicle. Sealers Cove is stunning, with one of the best beaches in the National Park. From here we follow a boardwalk for 2km through Sealers Swamp. The landscape changes as we walk through a trail surrounded by giant tree ferns which climb steadily to Windy Saddle. The last section of the walk is an easy downhill of 3kms to Telegraph Saddle where our vehicle waits to collect us. Afterwards we return to our accommodation for a wonderful dinner accompanied by local wines. Why not enjoy a hot spa on the deck taking in the spectacular views of the Prom and Bass Strait. The great way to rejuvenate after our day’s adventure.
If the cruise is not operational for any reason or cancelled due to bad weather, the option to walk to Refuge cove and return will be taken instead.
This morning enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out on our last day of walking. One of the favourite walks in the park for many of the park rangers in this area, this walk has animals that are not afraid of people and you may well encounter wombats and wallabies along the way. Meander through open banksia woodland and through forests of stringy bark, before heading up the tower-like granite boulder ridge to Vereker Lookout to take in awe inspiring views over the northern section of Wilsons Promontory. From this location you will be rewarded with magnificent views of Darby Saddle, Yanakie Isthmus, Shellback Island, Corner Inlet and Cotter Beach and much more. Mangroves can be seen at Millers Landing as well as kangaroos, wallabies and sometimes even emus. After our walk we head to Waratah Hills winery for a wonderful celebratory lunch and wine tasting with stunning views over the rolling winery hills. Afterwards we return to Melbourne the end of a wonderful journey.
