ITINERARY: Welcome to Slovenia. This morning, meet your guide in Ljubljana before departing for the spectacular Škocjan Caves Regional Park, home to one of Europe’s most extraordinary underground landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today’s adventure begins with a guided walk through the remarkable Škocjan Caves, where you’ll follow a network of well-constructed pathways deep beneath the Karst Plateau. Walk through immense limestone chambers, descend into one of the world’s largest underground canyons, and cross the dramatic suspension bridge suspended high above the thundering Reka River. ITINERARY: After breakfast, farewell the Adriatic coast as you journey north into Goriška Brda, often referred to as Slovenia’s Tuscany. Renowned for its rolling vineyards, orchards and medieval hilltop villages, this picturesque region offers some of the country’s most captivating rural scenery. Take time to explore the beautifully preserved village of Šmartno, where narrow cobbled laneways, centuries-old stone buildings and panoramic views stretch across the vineyard-covered hills into neighbouring Italy. Enjoy a morning coffee before continuing towards the spectacular Soča Valley. This afternoon, set out on a walk through one of Slovenia’s most breathtaking alpine landscapes. Following forest trails and wooden footbridges, trace the emerald waters of the Soča River as it winds beneath towering limestone cliffs and through pristine woodland. Along the way, pause to enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch featuring fresh regional produce in a peaceful riverside setting. Day 3: Julian Alps Hiking, Lepena Valley to Krn Lake Walk, Bovec Slovenia

ITINERARY: After breakfast, set out on a scenic drive through the magnificent Trenta Valley, following the emerald waters of the Soča River beneath towering peaks of the Julian Alps. This spectacular approach sets the scene for one of the most rewarding alpine walks of the journey. From Lepena Hut, begin the ascent to Krn Lake, Slovenia’s largest high mountain lake, nestled in a dramatic natural amphitheatre beneath Mount Krn. The trail winds steadily through alpine forest before opening to expansive mountain views, with plenty of time to pause and take in the pristine surroundings. The sense of achievement on reaching the lake, with its still waters reflecting the surrounding peaks, is unforgettable. Enjoy a relaxed countryside lunch in an alpine setting, featuring local flavours and mountain hospitality, before descending back to the valley. The afternoon is free to unwind in Bovec, whether strolling along the river, enjoying a coffee in town, or simply relaxing at the hotel. Day 4: Vršič Pass Alpine Walks and Slemenova Špica Hike, Julian Alps Slovenia
WALK GRADE: Approx. 5 km return. 2–3 hours. Easy to Moderate grade.
TERRAIN: Mountain paths, alpine meadows, rocky trails, and gentle ascents.
ITINERARY: After breakfast, depart for one of Slovenia’s most scenic drives, crossing the dramatic Vršič Pass, the highest mountain pass in the country. As the road climbs through hairpin bends, panoramic views unfold across the Julian Alps, setting the stage for a memorable alpine walking day. From the pass, begin a beautiful walk to Slemenova Špica, a classic Julian Alps viewpoint renowned for its sweeping vistas over the Tamar Valley, and jagged limestone peaks that define this region. The trail winds gently through alpine terrain, offering plenty of photo opportunities and time to soak in the mountain atmosphere. Midday, enjoy lunch at a welcoming mountain hut serving traditional Slovenian dishes, the perfect place to rest and refuel amid high alpine scenery. In the afternoon, continue east toward the Lake Bohinj region and check in at Hotel Bohinj, Lake Bohinj for the next 3 nights, ideally located for exploring Triglav National Park. Day 5: Pokljuka Plateau Walks and Zajamniki Shepherd Huts, Triglav National Park

TERRAIN: Forest tracks, alpine pasture paths, and mostly flat plateau walking.
ITINERARY: After breakfast, travel into the heart of Triglav National Park to the expansive Pokljuka Plateau, a high alpine landscape of dense forests, open meadows, and traditional mountain pastures. Begin today’s walk at the Pokljuka biathlon centre, following peaceful trails through spruce forest toward the alpine hamlet of Uskovnica. Continue on gentle paths to Planina Zajamniki, one of Slovenia’s most photographed alpine pastures, famous for its beautifully preserved wooden shepherd huts set against a backdrop of rolling meadows and mountain peaks. Enjoy time here to wander, take photographs, and soak in the timeless atmosphere of this high country setting. A relaxed countryside lunch featuring local produce will be enjoyed along the way in an alpine setting. From Zajamniki, guests may choose to descend on foot toward Ribčev Laz near Lake Bohinj, extending the walk through changing landscapes, or return to the starting point, depending on energy levels and preference. The afternoon is free to rest or explore the Lake Bohinj area at leisure before returning to Sunrose 7. Day 6: Lake Bohinj Circumnavigation
WALK GRADE: Approx. 10 km. 5 hours. Moderate grade.

TERRAIN: Forested switchbacks, alpine trails, open plateau paths, and mountain tracks.
ITINERARY: After breakfast, depart for nearby Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest glacial lake and one of the jewels of the Julian Alps. Today you’ll enjoy a rewarding circuit of the lake, following peaceful forest trails, crystal-clear shoreline paths, and picturesque alpine meadows. Along the way, take in uninterrupted views across the emerald waters, framed by the dramatic peaks of the Julian Alps and charming alpine villages. Midway through the day, ride the Vogel Cable Car into the high alpine landscape, where breathtaking panoramic views stretch across Lake Bohinj, Mount Triglav, and the surrounding Julian Alps. Enjoy lunch at a traditional mountain hut, taking time to relax and absorb the spectacular scenery before descending by cable car back to the valley. Complete the final section of the lakeside walk before returning to Bohinj. This evening, enjoy a delicious dinner showcasing regional Slovenian cuisine, accompanied by local wines, before settling in for a restful night in the heart of the Julian Alps.

ITINERARY: After breakfast, depart for Planina Blato, the gateway to some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in Triglav National Park. Today’s walk follows one of Slovenia’s most beautiful mountain trails, winding through peaceful forests, traditional shepherds’ pastures, and dramatic limestone landscapes as you make your way towards Planina Jezero, a stunning alpine meadow that marks the entrance to the renowned Triglav Lakes Valley. Although relatively short in distance, today’s walk is one of the more physically rewarding hikes of the tour, with steady climbing through rugged alpine terrain. The effort is well rewarded with breathtaking mountain scenery, traditional shepherds’ huts, and magnificent views across the heart of the Julian Alps. Enjoy lunch surrounded by this spectacular alpine landscape before retracing your steps to Planina Blato. This afternoon, leave the mountains behind and travel to the enchanting shores of Lake Bled. On arrival, check in to the elegant Hotel Triglav Bled, overlooking the lake, its iconic island church, and medieval clifftop castle. This evening, experience one of the culinary highlights of the tour with a feature dinner at Bled Castle, dramatically perched on a cliff high above the lake. Savour exceptional Slovenian cuisine accompanied by regional wines while taking in breathtaking views across Lake Bled, the island church, and the surrounding Julian Alps, a truly unforgettable way to end the day.
Day 8: Lake Bled – Ljubljana
FLEXIBLE ITINERARY: Guests can choose how much they would like to walk today.
ITINERARY: Wake up to the fairytale beauty of Lake Bled, where mist rises gently over the water and the island church reflects perfectly on its surface. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed free day at Lake Bled. Today is designed to be flexible, allowing guests to choose how they wish to experience this beautiful alpine setting at their own pace. Options available to enjoy a short but rewarding walk to the Ojstrica Viewpoint, offering one of the most famous panoramas of Lake Bled and its island, a traditional pletna boat ride across the lake to Bled Island, a visit to the medieval Bled Castle perched high above the lake, or a leisurely around the lakeshore. There is also time to relax at a lakeside café and sample the region’s much-loved Bled cream cake. At 3pm we depart Lake Bled and transfer (45 minutes) to Ljubljana dropping off at the Grand Hotel Union, Ljubljana Slovenia’s charming capital and our recommended hotel for those wishing to spend time here. Alternatively we can drop guests at the airport on this day only if required. This marks the end of a remarkable journey.
