ITINERARY: Your transfer company will meet you and take you to the start of the walk. Your walk today takes us from the pretty beach of Wattamolla to Otford. Along the way evidence of Aboriginal occupation dating back 7500 years can be found. Walk through the Royal’s heathlands contain over 500 species of flowering plants. From July to November, many of these wildflowers are in full bloom, and you can walk amidst a riot of colour of hakea and kunzea. Explore magnificent coastal scenery as creeks drop as waterfalls directly into the ocean and see spectacular Eagle Rock jutting from the cliffs a massive block of sandstone with a tip shaped like the beak of an eagle. Follow the path passing historic shacks of South Era, classified by the National Trust as a historic community. The cabins were built and used during the early 1920s through to the depression years of the 1930s. The second section of your walk explores a landscape of Cabbage Tree Palms, Lilly Pillys and other rainforest plants.  Moss and ferns cover the ground and rocks. Bangalay eucalypts emerge from the canopy and large figs are scattered along the steep slopes. We continue to Otford where our vehicle meets us for the short transfer to our accommodation. Tonight enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

The walk takes you along the coast offering stunning views and exploring beautiful beaches, freshwater lagoons teeming with birdlife and dramatic cliffs created by constant weathering of the ocean and wind. The beautiful colours and patterns in the bare sandstone are caused by iron and other minerals seeping into the white quartz sand. Towards the end of your walk you’ll be able to see engravings in the rocks from the Aboriginal inhabitants of this area the Dharawal people. Some are distinct, but you should be able to make out three large whales or sharks, a stingray, a jellyfish, a male figure with six fingers assumed to be a lawmaker, a wallaby, a shield and a tortoise. From here the trail heads through coastal heathland to Bundeena where your walking journey ends. For those enjoying transfers back to the Sydney CBD your driver will meet you in Bundeena at the end of your walk, for those finishing in Bundeena your luggage will be dropped back to you here.
