This self-guided walk explores the iconic Coast Track in the Royal National Park south of Sydney. One of NSW’s most dramatic walks, this trail meanders along a spectacular coastline showcasing spectacular rock formations, and unusual milky-white sandstone cliffs. Explore pretty coastal heathlands as well as a lush palm jungle forest.

In addition to track notes and maps our guests will receive access to a Walking App designed exclusively for Life’s An Adventure guests. Created by our experienced guides this fully interactive App include easy-to-follow walking notes with gps tracking, photos at track junctions and points of interest enroute as well as information about the natural environment. The app also calculate give average walking times, distances for each section and even optional side-trips as well as short and long options for each day’s walk. Customers will also be given the information on the google map platform, so each waypoint on each walk will be triggered when they arrive at that point, whether it be a fork in the track or point of interest. This gives real time feedback so you can see exactly where you are.

Your overnight bags transported for you
Our self guided walks are Pack-Free. Whilst yu are off walking your bags will be transported ahead to the next accommodation allowing you the freedom to walk with a small day pack with you lunch, water and perhaps a jacket.
To the trail
Our self-guided walks include the option of transfers from the Sydney CBD. Alternatively, guests are welcome to drive to the Royal National Park with transfers provided back to your car on the final day of the walk.

On your self guided walking experience you will stay in a local B&B nestled between the Illawarra Escarpment and ocean. Stay in this charming oasis enjoying good old- fashioned hospitality from your hosts. Guest will stay in a garden room featuring a large king bed, ensuite and exclusive garden deck.
Guests also have the option of adding an additional night’s accommodation to their walk staying here on night 2 and departing the next

TRANSFERS: There are two options to get to this walk. Choose to drive to Bundeena and our driver will drop you off to the start of the walk or enjoy private transfers from Sydney. (see pricing page for options).
WALK DETAILS: Walk: Approximately 15.5kms. Easier Option 10kms. 6.5 hours walking with breaks. Walk: Medium grade.
TERRAIN: Clear and well formed track or trail with some short steep ascents and descents. There are occasional steps and the track is clearly signposted.
ITINERARY: Your transfer company will meet you and take you to the start of the walk. Your walk today takes us from the pretty beach of Wattamolla to Otford. Along the way evidence of Aboriginal occupation dating back 7500 years can be found. Walk through the Royal’s heathlands contain over 500 species of flowering plants. From July to November, many of these wildflowers are in full bloom, and you can walk amidst a riot of colour of hakea and kunzea. Explore magnificent coastal scenery as creeks drop as waterfalls directly into the ocean and see spectacular Eagle Rock jutting from the cliffs a massive block of sandstone with a tip shaped like the beak of an eagle. Follow the path passing historic shacks of South Era, classified by the National Trust as a historic community. The cabins were built and used during the early 1920s through to the depression years of the 1930s. The second section of your walk explores a landscape of Cabbage Tree Palms, Lilly Pillys and other rainforest plants. Moss and ferns cover the ground and rocks. Bangalay eucalypts emerge from the canopy and large figs are scattered along the steep slopes. We continue to Otford where our vehicle meets us for the short transfer to our accommodation. Tonight enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

WALK DETAILS: Approximately 12kms. 5 – 5.5 hours walking with breaks. Medium grade.

ITINERARY: The walk today restarts at Wattamolla, a picturesque inlet where a small beach traps the waters of Wattamolla Creek to form a large lagoon. The walk takes you along the coast offering stunning views and exploring beautiful beaches, freshwater lagoons teeming with birdlife and dramatic cliffs created by constant weathering of the ocean and wind. The beautiful colours and patterns in the bare sandstone are caused by iron and other minerals seeping into the white quartz sand. Towards the end of your walk you’ll be able to see engravings in the rocks from the Aboriginal inhabitants of this area the Dharawal people. Some are distinct, but you should be able to make out three large whales or sharks, a stingray, a jellyfish, a male figure with six fingers assumed to be a lawmaker, a wallaby, a shield and a tortoise. From here the trail heads through coastal heathland to Bundeena where your walking journey ends. For those enjoying transfers back to the Sydney CBD your driver will meet you in Bundeena at the end of your walk, for those finishing in Bundeena your luggage will be dropped back to you here.
