As well as good old fashioned track notes and maps our guests will have access to our state-of-the-art Walking App. Exclusively designed by Life’s An Adventure, this fully interactive Self-Guided Walking App include easy-to-follow walking notes with gps tracking, photos at track junctions and points of interest enroute as well as information about the natural environment. The app will give average walking times, distances for each section and even optional side-trips as well as short and long options for each day’s walk. Customers will also be given the information on the google map platform, so each waypoint on each walk will be triggered when they arrive at that point, whether it be a fork in the track or point of interest. This gives real time feedback so customers know they are where they think they are!
Your overnight bags transported for you
Our self guided walks are Pack-Free. We take care of your overnight bags been transferred to your accommodation so you have the freedom of walking with a small day pack containing your water and lunch.
For extra safety
Our guests have the option of hiring an emergency personal locator beacon to take with you when walking. This extra safety feature will be peace of mind should the unexpected occur.
To the trail
Our self-guided walks include transfers from Launceston in Tasmania to the start of the trail. Our hosts will also transport you to the start of the trail each day. On the final day a transfer will be provided to get you back to Launceston with an airport drop off available enroute if required.
Discover on your own
Self-guided walking holidays offer flexibility and freedom. Customers can discover places at their own pace. They walk independently but follow detailed walk notes, knowing that the notes have been compiled by one of our experienced guides. The beauty of this is our guides know these tracks inside out. They know the best lookouts, scenic lunch stops, and where to get great photos.
Stay in a cute beach house
Our walking experience spends 2 nights in our waterfront accommodation. With only a short 15 minute transfer from the end of the trail on day 1 and the ability to walk directly in on day 2, you’ll find this charming accommodation with its beach decor and lovely Ansons Bay views, you can also soak in the hot tub on the outdoor deck
You’ll find an outdoor and indoor dining room, outdoor and indoor fireplace, bathrooms with hot showers and eco friendly running toilets and comfy beds.

DEPARTURE TIME: 7.30am
TRANSFERS: Meet your transfer company in Launceston for a 2.5 hour transfer to the start of the trail. Whilst you are walking your overnight bags will be delivered to the accommodation. Afternoon: 15 minute transfer from end of walk to accommodation.
WALK GRADE: 14kms. 4.5-5 hours walking plus breaks. Easy to Medium Grade. Moderate to Good level of fitness required.
TERRAIN: Mainly beach walking on sand with some slight inclines when crossing headlands along with a short inland heath track.
WALK ITINERARY: Depart Launceston from here we enjoy a scenic drive winding through rich farmlands to the northern part of Mount William National Park. Your walk starts at Stumpies Bay in Mt William National Park a remote and untouched wilderness area. You will head south along the beach along the way discovering spectacular landscapes of remote castaway coves. This area is likened to an impressionist’s palette featuring a ribbon of sapphire seas contrasting with pure white sands and burnt orange rocky outcrops. Explore scenic Boulder Point and Cobbler Rocks while keeping an eye out for the local wildlife coming out to graze on the marsupial lawns at Cod Bay. After arriving at Deep Creek, your host will be there to pick you up for the short 15-minute drive to your waterfront accommodation. Enjoy a soak in the hot tub when you arrive or a hot shower and relax while your host will provide a delicious dinner for your enjoyment.
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 15 minute transfer from our accommodation to the start of the trail.
Afternoon: walk directly into our accommodation.
WALK GRADE: 16.5kms. 6-6.5 hours walking plus breaks. Easy to Medium Grade. Moderate to Good level of fitness required.
TERRAIN: Mainly beach walking on sand with slight inclines when crossing headlands and a number of enjoyable coastal heath tracks.
WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast, your host will transfer you back to the trail at Deep Creek to continue your walk where you’ll set off south passing the breathtaking Picnic Rock, a photographer’s paradise. Continuing on to Eddystone Point, where an impressive granite lighthouse sits out on the most Easterly point of Tasmania. Enjoy a stunning intertidal rock pool with views overlooking orange rocks and endless coastline. Head up over the hill through the coastal heath, arriving at an isolated beach with pure white sand and crystal clear water, a great stretch of coast for spotting shore birds and marine life. When you think it can’t get any better you’ll now make your way through a series of shell coves that will keep you wondering. Finishing today’s coastal section at the spectacular Baileys Rock with a last chance at a swim before you enjoy a 4km bush track to Ansons Bay, arriving at our waterfront accommodation. Enjoy another delicious dinner prepared by your host.
TRANSFER TIMES: Morning: 20 minute transfer from accommodation to the start of the trail. Afternoon: 2.5 hours transfer from end of walk to Launceston with a quick stop in St Helens.
WALK GRADE: 17kms. 5.5-6.5 hours walking plus breaks. Easy to Medium Grade. Moderate to Good level of fitness required.
TERRAIN: Predominantly sand walking and basalt rock stretches, some granite rock hopping and a short inland track.
FLEXIBLE WALK: Optional shorter walk to to the pretty Nature Reserve Area of Humbug Point near Binnalong Bay. 5km walk. Easy to Medium Grade.
ITINERARY: After breakfast your host will transfer you to Policeman’s Point to begin your walk. This 17km walk takes you towards the south end of the Bay Of Fires Conservation area. Predominantly beach walking again today you will walk through some spectacular bays, tackle some rocky sections and loose yourself in the pristine coastline passing some gorgeous creeks and navigating your way around one of the best rock pools along your three day adventure. Finishing at The Gardens, your host will take you back to Launceston via St Helens where you will have an opportunity to grab a coffee for the drive back. Offering drop offs to both the airport and your Launceston accommodation this completes your remarkable journey. If the legs are tired and you are after a shorter option, your host can take you south to Binalong Bay where you will enjoy an easier walk through The Humbug Nature Reserve. This 6km walk through a pretty she-oak forest keeps you off the sand and experiencing a different aspect to days previously walked. Taking only 1.5-2 hours plus breaks you will be enjoying this unique walk with plenty of small bays to explore.
ARRIVAL TIME: We arrive back into Launceston at approximately 6.00pm. Note our transfer company are happy to drop guests off directly at the airport, en route back into Launceston. If booking flights please do not book before 6.45pm.
With self-guided walks we run scheduled departures every week from September to the end of April.
Departures start Tuesdays and end Thursday – for those wanting weekend departures please book our GUIDED walks which depart every Friday.
We do not run self-guided walks from May to August due to shorter days making it hard to complete walks in daylight hours.
