Tonight you will meet the rest of your group for a special welcome dinner at Gamle Raadhus, Oslo’s oldest restaurant, housed in the city’s historic town hall dating back to 1641. Surrounded by timber beams and centuries of history, we enjoy our first taste of Norway’s cuisine served with wine, as we get to know our fellow travellers and toast to the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Into the Mountains of Jotunheimen
Norway Walking Adventure

WALK GRADE: 8kms, 2.5 hours, Moderate. Elevation Gain: 250m. Descent 250m

TERRAIN: Lakeside dirt and gravel track with some rocky and uneven sections; gentle ascents and descents along the shoreline.

ITINERARY: After breakfast, we farewell Oslo and journey by private transfer deep into Norway’s high country. The drive itself is a spectacle, tracing ribbons of road through valleys where waterfalls tumble from sheer cliffs and snow-dusted peaks pierce the clouds. By late morning we arrive at the breathtaking Jotunheimen National Park, the legendary Home of the Giants, where jagged summits rise above glacier-fed lakes and sweeping alpine meadows. Here, we set out on a hike that captures the wild spirit of Norway. The trail winds along the turquoise shores of Gjende Lake, a mirror-like expanse framed by the sharp ridgelines of Besseggen and Knutshø. With each step, the scenery unfolds, deep valleys carved by ancient ice, cascading streams, and patches of hardy wildflowers clinging to the mountainside. Keep an eye out for grazing reindeer on distant slopes, and listen for the haunting calls of ptarmigans and other alpine birds. It’s the kind of landscape that humbles and energises in equal measure, offering those “pinch-me” moments at every turn. Afterwards, we relax and enjoy a hearty mountain-style lunch at Gjendesheim Hotel, a traditional lodge perched at the water’s edge. Later in the afternoon, we continue to our accommodation at Hindsæter Hotel, a rustic yet charming farm stay nestled among rolling high pastures. Tonight we gather for a delicious farm-to-table dinner celebrating local flavours served with wine, a warm and authentic end to a day spent exploring Norway’s mountain heart.

Day 3: Steinbua Hike & Geirangerfjord
Norway Walking Adventure

WALK GRADE: 10km, 3 hours, Moderate. Elevation gain 350m. Descent 350m.

TERRAIN: A mix of grass tracks and dirt paths through open alpine pastures, with some rocky stretches near the cabin. Gentle climbs and rolling meadows make for mostly stable footing, though a few uneven sections appear near old herding paths and streams.

ITINERARY: After a hearty farmer’s breakfast at Hindsæter Hotel, we begin our walk to explore Norway’s high pastures, a landscape shaped by centuries of farming tradition. The trail winds gently through rolling meadows alive with wildflowers, following in the footsteps of the mountain cowgirls who once tended their herds here. Each turn reveals new alpine vistas, from distant glacier peaks to the quiet beauty of Steinbua, a tiny stone hut standing resilient beneath the sky. After soaking in the serenity of this timeless setting, we continue our journey through Norway’s heartland. The road meanders past storybook villages and mountain valleys, where waterfalls tumble and old stave churches whisper of Viking days. As the landscape opens, the fjords appear, vast, glassy, and impossibly steep. Cruising through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord, we’re surrounded by sheer cliffs, tumbling waterfalls, and remote farms that cling to the rock like secrets from another age. Later we reach the tranquil shores where the Sagafjord Hotel, our accommodation for the next 2 nights. Day 4: Kayaking on Hjørundfjord
Norway Walking Adventure

KAYAK GRADE: 2-3 hours, 6kms Easy

WALK GRADE: 4km, 1.5-2 hours, Moderate

ITINERARY: After breakfast this morning, we step straight from our hotel onto the calm waters of Hjørundfjord, often called Norway’s “hidden fjord.” With towering peaks rising on both sides, it’s the perfect setting for a guided kayaking adventure. The fjord here is sheltered, making it suitable even for beginners, and the silence broken only by the splash of paddles and the call of seabirds is unforgettable. If you prefer to stay on land, you may opt out of the kayak tour and enjoy a rewarding walk to the Gunnarråsa Viewpoint, a short but steep trail leading to one of the best panoramas over the Hjørundfjord. After the morning’s activities, whether you’ve been out on the kayaks or chosen the walk to Gunnarråsa Viewpoint, we come together and board a scenic boat cruise deeper into the fjord, where we reach a tiny roadless village and the one-of-a-kind Christian Gaard. Twice a year, thousands flock here for a famous fjord music festival, but today we enjoy the quirky charm of this rustic bar-restaurant in peace, along with a hearty deerburger for lunch. The boat brings us back to our hotel this afternoon with the remainder of the day at leisure. Perhaps experience a traditional floating fjord sauna, alternating between the heat of the sauna and invigorating dips in the fjord itself. This evening we journey a short distance by bus and ferry to Rekkedal Farm, where we are warmly welcomed by Karin, the first female owner in 25 generations. Over stories of the farm’s remarkable legacy, we enjoy a memorable dinner paired with wines from their own Italian vineyard, the perfect balance of Norwegian tradition and international flavour. Later we return to our accommodation.

For those not wanting to kayak, there is an option for an easy hike along the salmon river

Day 5: E-bike ride Lodalen Valley & Nordfjord
Norway Walking Adventure

BIKE GRADE: 25km, 2-3 hours, Easy to moderate

WALK GRADE: 6km, 2-3 hours, Moderate

TERRAIN: A mix of paved road and well-maintained gravel road.

ITINERARY: After breakfast, we journey west toward the majestic Nordfjord, one of Norway’s most celebrated fjords. The scenery unfolds beautifully as we arrive in Loen, where our e-bikes await for an unforgettable ride through the Lodalen Valley. Our route follows the turquoise waters of Lake Lovatnet, glistening beneath sheer cliffs and waterfalls that tumble from the surrounding peaks. This is Norway at its most breathtaking, a valley shaped by nature’s energy and resilience. Along the way, we pass through peaceful hamlets and pause to reflect on the stories this landscape holds, reminders of how deeply Norwegians live in harmony with their wild surroundings. As we ride further, the views become even more spectacular. Emerald forests give way to open meadows and dramatic mountain walls rising above the lake. The final stretch brings us to a short, gentle walk leading to the magnificent Kjendalsbreen Glacier, a glittering arm of the great Jostedalsbreen Glacier, the largest on mainland Europe. Seeing this river of ice flowing down the valley is a true wow-mazing moment, a glimpse into Norway’s timeless natural beauty. For guests who prefer to walk instead of cycle, a beautiful flexible walking option leads to Ramnefjellssetra, a peaceful 6 km return trail offering sweeping views over Lovatnet and the surrounding peaks. After completing the walk, guests rejoin the group at the lakeshore café to enjoy a relaxed lunch, with freshly caught local trout as a standout highlight. The afternoon brings a relaxing scenic drive along the Nordfjord to our welcoming accommodation at the Nordfjord Hotel, where a delicious dinner, wine and mountain views round out a day filled with pure Norwegian magic.

For those not wanting to e-bike, you will be transferred by car to the start of the walk

Day 6: Through the fjords to the Atlantic Coast
Norway Walking Adventure

WALK GRADE: 8kms, 4 hours. Elevation gain 570m

ITINERARY: This morning we begin with a visit to Sagastad, located just a short walk from our hotel, where history and legend come alive. Here we hear the thousand-year-old tale of a Viking king cremated with his ship after falling in battle, and stand beside the full-scale reconstruction of the largest Viking ship ever found. It’s a fascinating place to take in Norway’s past, and you might be tempted to slip on a Viking helmet for a fun selfie. From here, we set out toward the Atlantic, tracing the Nordfjord and admiring the spectacular fjord scenery before crossing the water on a short ferry ride. Continuing out to the islands, we stretch our legs on a coastal walk to a seacliff viewpoint, where sweeping views open across white sandy beaches and the wide Atlantic archipelago. The contrast in landscapes is striking, shifting from the deep fjords of the morning to the open, windswept coast by afternoon. After the walk, we pause at a local café for a refreshing drink before making the final short drive to Kalvåg, one of Norway’s best-preserved fishing villages. It’s quick, lively, and wonderfully scenic, a very different way to experience Norway. From here we follow a gentle gravel path back down, a scenic walk that lets you experience Bergen from above as the city gradually comes back into view. The afternoon is free to make your own discoveries, perhaps browse local boutiques, visit a museum, or simply enjoy the charm of Bergen’s cobbled streets and waterfront cafés.
