This 3 day walk explores the remote Noosa and Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, a region rich in lush rainforest, pretty waterfalls and panoramic views. Explore a range of landscapes in beautiful Mapleton National Park and Woondum National Park with their tall open forests of blackbutt forest, scribbly gum forest, piccabeen palm groves and warm tropical rainforests. Make your way across pretty creek and listen for the chorus of 32 different species of frogs that live here as well as abundant birdlife.
Carry only your water and lunch
No need to carry heavy overnight packs with your clothes and gear, this walk has been designed for those looking for an affordable multi-day walking experience with all the creature comforts. Your overnight bags will be transported each day so all you need is a small day pack for your lunch and water.
With amazing views of Mount Cooroora
Enjoy 2 nights at the wonderful Noosa Eco Retreat, set amongst 100 private acres of bushland. Our guests will stay in spacious Eco-Luxe Yurts tastefully decorated for a unique stay. Each Eco-Luxe Yurt features a king-size bed (can split into two twin beds), ensuite, kitchenette and large decks to relax and soak up the views.

Mealtime is a special time on tour. Not only does it provide the opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers in a relaxed environment, but it also allows you to sample regional specialities. Our dinners will be enjoyed at The Pomona Bistro & Distillery siutated in the historical site of an early 1900s bakery. The menu is direct from the community’s paddock to your plate all designed to be shared and enjoyed. We have something for all appetites from large and small share plates, grazing platters and sides.

TRAIL NOTES: 12km
WALK ITINERARY: Meet your guides in the hotel foyer of the Mercure Brisbane King George Square at 7.45am before setting out on our adventure. Our walk today takes us to pretty Mapleton National Park an area of tall open forest and remnants of subtropical rainforest. This walk begins with a gentle walk along the scenic Gheerulla Creek. As we progress several creek crossings are encountered culminating in a brief side trip to the lovely Gheerulla Falls. Along the way we will admire the hoop pine and bunya pines as well admire enjoy the chorus of the 107 species of birdlife and 32 species of frogs that inhabit this National Park. Returning to the main track and it’s a zig-zag climb up to Ubajee Viewpoint to review our journey so far from this lookout. From here it’s steady ridgeline walking through to the Leafy Lane Trailhead and the end of the trail. From here we make our way to the Noosa Eco Retreat where we enjoy a relaxing dinner in a local restaurant featuring local produce and served with Australian wine. Tonight enjoy a superb dinner featuring local produce accompanied with Australian wines.
TRAIL NOTES: 17.5km
TERRAIN: Expect a lot of walking on 4×4 tracks and mountain bike trails
WALKING ITINERARY: After a hearty breakfast we head out on today’s walk which takes us through the beautiful Woondum National Park. This park consists of mountains and hills blanketed in magnificent tall eucalypt forests, luscious rainforest, as well as cascading rock pools and boulder-strewn creeks. We start high and finish low passing through Woondum National Park on our way to Kin Kin. With a population of just under 800 people, Kin Kin is within the UNESCO Noosa Biosphere but also boasts a good number of heritage-listed buildings. Tonight we return to our accommodation for dinner served with Australian wine.
TRAIL NOTES: 21km. Good level of fitness required. Shorter 10km option also available.
TERRAIN: Quiet roads and tracks for the most part.
WALK ITINERARY: After a hearty breakfast we head out on our day’s walking adventure. Today’s walk showcases a variety of ecosystems from coastal vistas to panoramic hinterland, rich forests and rolling farmlands. We leave Kin Kin we swing to the east then south for the first dozen kilometres on this section called “The Scenic Trail”. First major destination is the Cootharaba Views Lookout… the last almost 2km is uphill but with rewarding views to compensate. After a little more uphill walking on quiet roads we’ll soon take in Twin Hills View Lookout ad then bounce up to Middle Lookout on our way back to James McKane Memorial Lookout, before reaching the end of the trail.
Afterwards we transfer back to either the Sunshine Coast airport (50 min drive) arriving at approximately 5.00pm or Brisbane’s Mercure King George Square (2 hours) arriving at approximately 6.00pm.
