At the top of the South Island of New Zealand lies the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand’s smallest and most visited National Park. Our superb 4 day Pack Free walk showcases the best of the Abel Tasman Coast Track through landscapes of rich native forests, beautiful beaches and idyllic inlets. By private boat, we reach the best sections of the trail each day, whilst at night we stay at the secluded Awaroa Lodge offering magnificent views, stunning local produce and superb New Zealand wines.
Note: This journey can be combined with our 3 day Queen Charlotte Track walk to create a 6 day New Zealand walking experience.

Offering a superb a la carte menu and wonderful local wines this is an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow guests.
After a hot breakfast, transfer by minibus to the charming seaside town of Kaiteriteri. We join our boat and cruise along the stunning coastline of Abel Tasman National Park, taking in spectacular views of crystal clear aqua water, pretty coves and picturesque beaches along the way. We reach the golden beach of Totaranui where we disembark to start our walk. We cross a stunning granite headland above Skinners Point to reach Goat Bay and then head on to pretty Waiharakeke bay, the track crosses a substantial headland to the north end of Awaroa inlet, the largest in Able Tasman National Park. We walk into our accommodation, the secluded Awaroa Lodge, surrounded by pristine waterways and native forest. Enjoy time to relax before joining the group for a fabulous a la carte dinner in the Lodge’s restaurant featuring creative local produce, accompanied with fabulous New Zealand wines.

For those not wanting to join the kayak enjoy time to relax or enjoy a sleep in.
We then all head from the lodge on our walk to Bark Bay. We reach Tonga Bay by climbing over Tonga saddle, reaching Onetahuti, a stunning beach surrounded by imposing granite headlands. We continue on, passing a historical Granite Quarry site. Beyond the quarry, the track once again climbs over another forested headland, descending to beautiful Bark Bay. Afterwards, we are met by our boat for the return boat ride back to Awaroa Lodge. Tonight the group comes together for dinner in the restaurant served with New Zealand’s fine wines and modern creative cuisine.
After an enjoyable breakfast, we transfer by private boat to Anchorage. Anchorage is one of the most popular parts of the Able Tasman. We take a detour to Pitt Head for a picnic lunch and the exquisite Te Pukatea Bay, arguably the most appealing of all the beaches in the Park. We allow 90 minutes for the side track and then head back on the coastal track crossing a forested saddle, descending to the sea beyond Yellow point and to our final destination at Apple Tree Bay. From here we join our boat transfer back to Kaiteriteri before joining our minibus back to Nelson arriving at approximately 6.00pm. The end of a remarkable journey.
