TRAIL NOTES: 5.3-kms. Grade: easy. 1 hour walk.

ITINERARY: This morning meet your guides at Kununurra at 7:30am to be transferred to join our cruise to explore the Ord River where we can marvel at the spectacular scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna we’ll see along the way to Lake Argyle! We will stop at a Riverside Camp’s for a sumptuous buffet lunch, before continuing on up to the Ord Top Dam – an incredible sight! In 1971 the Ord River Dam was completed and Lake Argyle was filled by 1974. Lake Argyle is located in the remote Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia. The vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion-year-old landscape is brimming with an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking colourful vistas.

Once we’ve disembark off the cruise we will view the impressive Ord Dam before making our way to historic Durack Homestead. From here we begin our walk to Lake Argyle Bluff a 5.3-kilometre easy trail.  Look out for the interesting wildlife you may see along the way. Birds, marsupials, reptiles, insects and maybe even an Echidna! Once we’ve walked out to the lookout we head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Lake Argyle Resort which has been designed and constructed specifically for the stunning Kimberley landscape overlooking the lake. Enjoy the delights of this property including the stunning infinity pool! 35 metres of infinity wet edge, spa, and some of the most breath-taking scenery of the Kimberley’s. Tonight we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

Day 2: Pint Pot Bay Exploration Walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome

TRANSFERS: Transfer by private charter boat to walk

TRAIL NOTES: Choice of 8kms or 6kms. Grade: Medium to Hard.

ITINERARY: This morning enjoy a hearty breakfast before we cruise across the lake on a private charter to take us to the start of our walk for the day. The boat will take us past many bays and inlets that make this vast body of water so incredibly unique. We may see wallabies, wallaroos, fish, birdlife and freshwater crocs along the way. We will be dropped off at Pint Pot Bay where our walk begins. This Exploration Walk, covers 6-8km walk depending on which option you choose. This walk is part of the Southern Carr Boyd Ranges which, from afar, seem arid and barren. But once up close reveal their hidden delights with cool gorges, waterfalls, and lovely, fern-lined pools just begging for someone to swim in them! Some of the best bushwalking tracks in the Kimberley can be found here. This walk is trackless and a unique opportunity to walk in the real Kimberley Wilderness. The walk is medium to hard in grade and ranges in terrain with some fairly steep parts onto the plateau, but once on top walking becomes easier and the amazing views on top of the Carr Boyd Ranges make it worthwhile. Optional: An additional 2 km diversion into Little Revolver Creek to a secluded water pool is available to those who want to venture further. After our walk, we’ll head back to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch and an afternoon dip in the stunning infinity pool taking in the beauty that surrounds us. Late this afternoon we’ll enjoy a private sunset cruise taking in all the glory of Lake Argyle at this time of the day. Afterwards, we return to the resort to enjoy dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

The Amalia Gorge walk, a return trek to the waterfall and plunge pool takes over an hour and passes by several small flowing waterfalls and crystal clear pools, including a lovely half-way pool. The beginning of the walk is over a rocky dry river bed, with some tough narrow areas of the trail, but the scenery is worth it. After this walk, we’ll enjoy a sit-down lunch at El Questro Station, before heading to El Questro Gorge for our second walk of the day which takes you through a butterfly-filled rainforest and a boulder-strewn valley before arriving at the most beautiful waterfall. Enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear bathing hole and take in the rainforest’s splendour! After both of these fabulous walks, we’ll head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Home Valley Station (staying in Riverside Suites) located on 615,000-acre historic cattle station which also has holiday accommodation. We will witness the beauty of the Bungles from above before landing at a nearyby airstrip to meet our helicopter that will fly us near the mouth of the remote Piccaninny Gorge, the largest of all the gorges in the National Park. Our guide will lead the hike into the gorge and share stories of the area’s significance to the Aboriginal people and its unique history, which led to the World Heritage listing of Purnululu National Park. We will enjoy a morning tea and picnic lunch here. To experience this area, would normally take 3 days hiking with overnight camping supplies in a heavy pack. Here you can see fossilised marine life within the limestone of the gorge walls It is then time to enjoy the remote scenery of the Kimberley, dotted with the dramatic silhouettes of huge boab trees, as you experience the renowned Gibb River Road heading west to Derby. Day 8: Broome - Lurujarri Walk to Gantheume Point Walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome

TRAIL NOTES: Lurujarri Walk to Gantheume Point Walk, 8km, 3hours. Easy Grade

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast this morning we walk part of the Lurujarri Heritage Trail. This 90km coastal trail follows a traditional songline through the land of the Goolarabooloo community. It was developed in 1987, by young indigenous leader Paddy Roe as a way to encourage members of the Goolarabooloo community to be walking the Country again, but also as a means of waking up non-Aboriginal people to a relationship with the land; to foster trust; friendship and empathy between the indigenous community and the wider Australian and International community. You will walk the section of trail that starts amongst the fascinating sculpted rocks of Gantheume Point before finishing your walk at your accommodation in time for sunset drinks. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore Broome on your own. Tonight come to dinner with the group and enjoy a superb two-course dinner accompanied with wine.

Your next two nights are spent at Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa with its chic accommodation nestled amongst lush gardens with a fusion of colonial charm and Asian influence, including a dedicated meditation area. Tonight we also enjoy the true taste of Broome. It’s said that 57 languages are spoken in the Shire of Broome. The result? A melting pot of local and international cuisine.

Day 9: Broome - Horizontal Falls or Pearl Farm tour
10 Day Kimberley to Broome

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast, we make a short drive to the stunning Kimberley coast and the thriving, vibrant township of Broome. Internationally renowned for its pearls and its gorgeous Cable Beach, where visitors and locals gather each evening to watch the sunset into the Indian Ocean.

Today our clients have a choice of experiences (price varies depending on choice)

CHOICE 1: Horizontal Falls Experience.
For the ultimate Kimberley adventure, enjoy a half-day trip to view the amazing Horizontal Falls. The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow, closely aligned gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay north of Broome. The direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach 10 metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge. Depending on the tides your experience will either be a scenic flight travelling over the entire peninsula including the falls or an up-close journey by land, air and sea to witness this remarkable natural event.

CHOICE 2: Pearl Tour Farm:
Clients will enjoy a tour to discover the process of culturing pearls from the ‘seeding’ process to harvesting the magnificent gems. This experience will include a fascinating cruise to see the farming operations.

The remainder of the day is at leisure in Broome. Tonight enjoy dinner featuring the true taste of Broome accompanied by Australian wines. It’s said that 57 languages are spoken in the Shire of Broome. The result… a melting pot of local and international cuisine.

Day 10: Broome departure day
10 Day Kimberley to Broome

ITINERARY: After breakfast we farewell the group. The remainder of the day is at leisure before your homebound flights.

FLIGHTS: Flights can be booked at any time during the day. The airport is a short 10-minute taxi ride from your accommodation.
