On the East Coast of Tasmania lies the spectacular Freycinet National Park with its breathtaking mountains, white sand beaches, turquoise ocean and secluded rocky coves. The bare, granite peaks of the Hazard mountains dominate the landscape, towering out of the clear waters of Coles Bay and Great Oyster Bay. Freycinet National Park is also home to the magnificent Wineglass Bay, voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Enjoy the beauty of this unique location on our 3-day walking experience, carefully designed to take in all the highlights of this world-renowned destination.
Carry only a day pack with your water, lunch and camera
For those that love hiking, but don’t like the hard slog of carrying a heavy, multi-day hiking pack, you’ll be delighted to know you only need to carry a small day pack with your lunch, camera and water. Experience spectacular views from the top of Mt Graham, looking over the entire Freycinet National Park. This view is normally only accessible by walking overnight on the 3-4 day Freycinet Peninsula Walk but on our walking tour, we take a boat cruise to remote Cooks Beach and walk to Mt Graham from here. Each day we return to our accommodation to freshen up before one of our signature quality restaurant meals with local Tasmanian wine and produce.
Iconic accommodation in the heart of the National Park
On this fantastic 3 day walk, you will spend your evenings at the beautiful Freycinet Lodge, the only hotel situated within Freycinet National Park. This award-winning eco-lodge has spectacular views over Great Oyster Bay with the impressive Hazards mountain range as a backdrop. After a day’s walk, relax in the lounge area and enjoy drinks at the bar (own expense), before dining in the stunning Bay Restaurant with local wines included with dinner.
Our guests will stay in one bedroom Cabins surrounded by native bushland (twin share). Each cabin features a king size bed and queen sofa bed, ensuite and private balcony with views of the park’s natural landscape. Note: limited one bedroom cabins are available at Freycinet Lodge with guaranteed twin king single beds.
Choose to downgrade your hotel
For those who aren’t concerned about staying in luxury accommodation and would rather save money, we offer the choice to downgrade to a 2 bedroom Holiday unit at nearby Coles Bay. Units feature a queen bed and two bunk beds and are based on twin share (or solo travellers can pay a single supplement). You will still enjoy all meals with the rest of the guests at Freycinet Lodge for breakfasts and dinners but travel with the guides each day to your alternative accommodation.
Fabulous restaurant meals
Enjoy dining each evening in the wonderful Bay Restaurant at Freycinet Lodge offering an inspired seasonal menu featuring wonderful local Tasmanian produce. Dinners are accompanied by superb Tasmanian wines.
Options to suit a range of abilities
We understand when you are travelling with friends or family, that you often have different abilities and fitness. On this walk we have flexible walking options on Day 2 and 3, offering the choice between a shorter or longer walk.
The Wow Factor
On day 2 we include a cruise to remote Cooks Beach. Here we disembark and begin the day’s walk up and over the saddle of Mt Graham for spectacular views over Wineglass Bay and the entire Freycinet National Park. To reach this part of the peninsula, normally you would have to walk in and overnight in the park, having carried tents and all your equipment. On our tour, with the help of a private boat, we do it all pack free!
A maximum group of 10 people
Our group sizes are small and intimate with a maximum of 10 people. We find this delivers more personalised service, a great social environment and has less impact on the environment.
Chief Experience Officers
Our guides are proudly 100% Tasmanian. We call them our CEOs – Chief Experience Officers and it’s their job to ensure your tour exceeds your expectations. Our guides caring attitude and charming laid-back nature ensures your tour is relaxing, fun and informative.
including Australia's best Adventure Tourism Company
Life’s an Adventure have won 21 Tourism Awards of Excellence including the Qantas Australian Tourism Award for Australia’s Best Adventure Company. Awards are great, but our biggest accolade which we value even more, is that our clients come back and travel with us time and time again.
You won't even pay for credit card fees
Our walking tours are all genuinely all-inclusive. Once you pay for your tour there are no hidden extras. During your evening meals, you won’t need to put your hand in your pocket to pay for wine as this is included in the price of the tour. Also included is your cruise transfer to the trail on day 2 as well as a celebratory winery lunch on day 3 at the end of your walk, a fantastic way to finish your journey. We won’t even ask you to pay additional credit card fees when booking.

From here you will be driven to beautiful Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park, the start of our walk. Established in 1916, Freycinet National Park is one of the state’s oldest and best-known parks. Its grand granite peaks and beautiful white beaches are set against the azure blue ocean to create a truly beautiful landscape. Today we enjoy a great walk to the famous sweeping curve of sand known as Wineglass Bay, voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. We then return along a scenic trail beneath the magnificent Hazard mountains, skirting the coastline and passing a number of picturesque coves, perfect for swimming on hot days. The track has many obstacles such as rocks and exposed tree roots. Add to this a steep ascent, 570m in elevation to Mt Graham, and then a similar descent. SHORT WALK: Flat, sandy with some steps towards the end.
WALK ITINERARY: After a hearty breakfast, our private boat picks us up from the wharf in front of the lodge and takes us to the remote southern region of the National Park. We disembark off the boat onto Cooks Beach where our walk begins. Our long walk climbs up to East Freycinet Saddle and over Mount Graham. We then head along Wineglass Bay and follow the trail to the end of the walk. For those doing the shorter option, you will be dropped at Cooks Beach with the rest of the group then head out to explore Bryans Beach before following the coastline and crossing over to Wineglass Bay. At the end of the trail we make our way back to Freycinet Lodge, with time to shower and freshen up before the group gets together for dinner in the Bay Restaurant. Savour wonderful local produce and wines as we chat about the day’s adventure.

Return to the lodge where we collect the rest of the group who have had a sleep in and late breakfast.
After this, we set out on a hike along Friendly Beaches, starting at the southern end and walking north towards Point Isaac. As you walk, keep an eye out for dolphins and other sea life. We then drive to picturesque Moulting Lagoon, an internationally-recognised wetland ecosystem with an impressive colony of black swans and teeming with butterflies.
