Local Tasmanian Produce

Savour the delights of Bruny Island cuisine

Bruny Island is famous for its wonderful local produce including cheeses, wines, berries, oysters and smoked meats. An important element of your walking experience with Life’s an Adventure is the delicious local food we provide each day. Your walking days will finish with a stop at a local establishment to sample and select food for our evening meals. For example on day 2, we stop at Bruny Island Winery to enjoy wine and cheese tasting and select our wines for our evening meal that night. Where possible the majority of the food we provide is sourced directly from the island, allowing you the chance to sample the local specialities as well as support the local businesses.

Our walking adventure begins with us setting foot onto the Bruny Island Neck Game Reserve taking us to the remarkable Cape Queen Elizabeth. Surrounded by lagoons and dunes this 4-hour walk features white beaches and headlands with spectacular views. Features of this walk include open dry sclerophyll bushland, the home of the Bennetts wallaby, a pretty lagoon, stunning beaches and fantastic views from the summit of the Cape.

At the end of our walk, we head to our accommodation. En-route we will stop at the cheese factory and oyster factory to sample some local produce. We spend 2 nights at historic Ventnor Guest House close to the water. This building was originally an old Mill Farm and later a Post Office and School. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the only restaurant on the island, offering great local specialities and a great local atmosphere.

Guide Barry was a sheer delight! He could not do enough for us. Helpful, friendly, and even his puns and singing were welcomed! He went out of his way to look after us. I could not give him enough praise - thanks Barry! Meals were unbelievably good. Well and truly exceeded expectations! Salmon, oysters, cheeses, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, ragout, omelette - great chef Barry and great suppliers! And, of course, the wine :) and the tastings . Accommodation was excellent - well-appointed, comfortable, great location. Tour above expectations - Have mainly done unguided hikes, but this walk confirmed that Life's An Adventure is the way to go. Really could not fault it for a mix of walking and gourmet experience. Barry also made sure that we kept to time, but we were never hurried

Guides were excellent. Joel was a really good guide I have had Barry as a guide before He was really good the first time This time he has matured and become more confident and was even better than before. The guides you choose are really good at their jobs and ensure the treks are very successful. Meals were excellent - The bruny island hotel was beautiful. I did not expect such great food from such a remote place. The food the boys cooked was very good too. The accommodation was great. Because I have been on your tours before and I knew the high standard that you provide. And I was definitely not disappointed
