Three sisters, Giant Stairway, Dardanelles’ pass, Leura

Today we see the Three Sisters, the Blue Mountains’ most spectacular landmark. This must see attraction is experienced by millions of people each year. The Three Sisters is essentially an unusual rock formation representing Three Sisters who according to Aboriginal legend were turned to stone and today you will be not just taking a picture of it (like most tourists), but also walking through it down to the forest floor, via the famous giant stairway.
An amazing transformation of scenery takes place where you are quickly taken to a magical place of ferns, mosses and towering dogwoods. You may even better treated with an impromptu meeting with the local lyrebird.

Enjoy the chorus of birds singing in this little piece of paradise. Save your lunch until you get to the bottom of the falls, where you can sit in awe of the magnitude of these amazing waterfall. An amazing walk to experience the wilderness and the true beauty of the Blue Mountains.

Follow the route from National Pass trail and then on to Wentworth Pass. The main section of the track picks its way through the forest at the base of the escarpment, rather than along the claystone ledge (National Pass) above. The ladders down the side of the escarpment are fun and the pool at the foot of the falls makes for good swimming. It is a 5.6 km circuit and lasts about 4,5 hours. Medium to hard walk.
