This unique Kimberley pack-free walk encompasses several magnificent flights to reduce travelling time in the vast Kimberley saving you around 9 hours in driving. This 5-day innovative walk is like no other tour! Your journey has been designed to provide a remote wilderness walking experience in the Kimberley with added touches of luxury along the way! Enjoy Lake Argyle, located in the remote Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia. The vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion year old landscape is brimming with an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking colourful vistas. We also visit Home Valley Station, located in the East Kimberleys for a few nights. This area showcases an outstanding diversity of landscapes from rugged sandstone ranges to rainforest pockets, stunning gorges and palm-fringed waterholes. From here there is an option to add on two nights in Kununurra which includes the opportunity to explore a highlight of the Kimberley’s – The Bungles! This optional add-on includes a day trip to the Bungles, with a return flight, saving on time and seeing the Kimberley’s in all their glory from up above . Once there we’ll enjoy a scenic helicopter flight and walk in the Picanny Gorge in the Purnululu National Park (a place which is only normally accessible on a 3-day hike with a heavy pack), which is a World Heritage Site and one of the most striking wonders of Western Australia.

A Pack Free Walking Experience

Carry as little as your water and lunch

One of the biggest drawcards of this walk is that our guests won’t be asked to carry their clothes, food or overnight bags for the entire walk. This is a big advantage in that you will avoid carrying an additional 8kg or more on your back. With Life’s An Adventure, you will carry as little as your water bottle, lunch and camera each day.

INCREDIBLE Optional Add-on Experience!

Unique Heli Hiking Experience - Explore the remote Bungle Bungle Domes!

Our journey has the option to include a spectacular heli-hiking experience into the Bungles to explore the upper reaches of Piccaninny Gorge. To experience this area, would normally take 3 days hiking with overnight camping supplies in a heavy pack. (Including one day to reach the mouth of the gorge, then another day to explore the gorge and then another day to retrace your steps and hike back to the start). With OUR journey we will access this area in a day with our helicopter dropping us at the mouth of the gorge, allowing us the day to explore the best areas of this enormous gorge, that cuts through the Bungle Range. The helicopter will then pick us up for a unique return journey.

Day 1: Kununurra to Lake Argyle
5 Day Kimberley Explorer – V2

This morning meet your guides at Kununurra Country Club Resort, Kununurra at 7:30am to be transferred to join our cruise to explore the Ord River where we can marvel at the spectacular scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna we’ll see along the way to Lake Argyle! We will stop at one of our Riverside Camp’s for a sumptuous buffet lunch, before continuing on up to the Ord Top Dam – an incredible sight! In 1971 the Ord River Dam was completed and Lake Argyle was filled by 1974. Lake Argyle is located in the remote Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia. The vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion year old landscape is brimming with an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking colourful vistas.

After the cruise we’ll head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Lake Argyle Resort which has been designed and constructed specifically for the stunning Kimberley landscape overlooking the lake. Enjoy the delights of this property including the stunning infinity pool! 35 metres of infinity wet edge, spa, and some of the most breath-taking scenery of the Kimberley’s!

Once we’ve checked in and freshened up we’ll head out for our first walk of our journey. Lake Argyle Bluff Lookout Walk is a 5.3 kilometre easy trail.  Look out for the interesting wildlife you may see along the way. Birds, marsupials, reptiles, insects and maybe even an Echidna! Once we’ve walked out to the lookout we return the same way back to the resort. Tonight we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

Day 2: Pint Pot Bay Exploration Walk
5 Day Kimberley Explorer – V2

This morning enjoy a hearty breakfast before we cruise across the lake to start our walk for the day. The boat will take us passed many bays and inlets that make this vast body of water so incredibly unique. We may see wallabies, wallaroos, fish, birdlife and freshwater crocs along the way. We will be dropped off to enjoy the Pint Pot Bay Exploration Walk, a 6-8km walk depending on which option you choose. This walk is part of the Southern Carr Boyd Ranges which, from afar, seem arid and barren. But once up close reveal their hidden delights with cool gorges, waterfalls, and lovely, fern-lined pools just begging for someone to swim in them! Some of the best bushwalking tracks in the Kimberley can be found here. This walk is trackless and a unique opportunity to walk in the Kimberly Wilderness. The walk is medium to hard in grade and ranges in terrain with some fairly steep parts onto the plateau, but once on top walking becomes easier and the amazing views on top of the Carr Boyd Ranges make it worthwhile. Optional: An additional 2 km diversion into Little Revolver Creek to a secluded waterpools is available to those who want to venture further. After our walk we’ll head back to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch and an afternoon dip in the stunning infinity pool taking in the beauty that surrounds us. Late this afternoon we’ll enjoy a private sunset cruise before enjoying dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

Day 3: Lake Argyle to El Questro - Amalia Gorge walk & El Questro Gorge walk
5 Day Kimberley Explorer – V2

This morning after breakfast we’ll drive out to El Questro in the Eastern Kimberley where we’ll walk the Amalia Gorge and El Questro Gorge. The drive will take around 2-hours. The Amalia Gorge walk, a 3.4 km return trek to the waterfall and plunge pool takes over an hour and passes by several small flowing waterfalls and crystal clear pools, including a lovely half-way pool. The beginning of the walk is over a rocky dry river bed, with some tough narrow areas of the trail, but the scenery is worth it. After this walk we’ll enjoy a lunch before starting the El Questro Gorge walk (7.2 km – 3 to 5 hours) which takes you through a butterfly-filled rainforest and a boulder-strewn valley before arriving at the most beautiful waterfall. Enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear bathing hole and take in the rainforest’s splendour! After both of these fabulous walks we’ll head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Home Valley Station (staying in Riverside Suites) located on 615,000-acre historic cattle station which also has holiday accommodation. All visitors seeking a taste of the rugged Kimberley outback can stay at the Station and participate in a variety of activities. You may wish to enjoy a relaxing swim in the natural sapphire pool with views of ancient red gorges. Enjoy a delicious meal in The Dusty Bar and Grill tonight served with Australian wine.

Day 4: Moonshine Walk and Bindoola Falls
5 Day Kimberley Explorer – V2

This morning after breakfast we’ll explore the local area. The first walk of the day is the Moonshine Gorge Circuit trail which follows Moonshine creek. Our walk starts at the front gate of Home Valley Station and is around 5km return walk. Along the way we’ll see tall Livistona Palms and cliff faces on both sides of the gorge providing shade and plenty of areas to rest and swim. On return to Home Valley Station we’ll enjoy lunch before enjoying a shorter 1km walk to Bindoola Falls and billabong where you may want to have another swim.

Tonight we’ll enjoy a delicious meal in The Dusty Bar and Grill tonight served with Australian wine.

Day 5: Emma Gorge Walk - Kununurra
5 Day Kimberley Explorer – V2

This morning enjoy an early breakfast and head to Emma Gorge for the last of our walking trails. Emma Gorge forms part of the Cockburn Ranges. This scenic trail takes us through a gorge characterised by cliff face escarpments reaching up to 120 metres high on both sides of the trail. See the ever-changing vegetation as you make your way along the gorge until you reach the crystal clear pools and a 65-metre waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pools to cool off before enjoying lunch. After lunch, our journey takes us back to Kununurra, where our walking holidays concludes at approximately 3pm. Please note as airlines can change departure times, we will adjust the start time on day 5 to ensure guests can meet flights departing at later in the day. We are able to drop guests directly at the airport to catch outgoing flights.

Once there we’ll enjoy a scenic helicopter flight and walk to explore Piccaninny Gorge. (see itinerary for full details).

Note: due to warmer weather in the Territory our guides will determine the best walking experiences for the day. Early morning starts will mean we will walk in the cooler part of the day.
