Our journey has the option to include a spectacular heli-hiking experience into the Bungles to explore the upper reaches of Piccaninny Gorge. Once in Lake Argyle we will join our cruise to explore the Ord River where we can marvel at the spectacular scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna we’ll see along the way! We will stop at one of our Riverside Camp’s for a sumptuous buffet lunch, before continuing on up to the Ord Top Dam – an incredible sight! In 1971 the Ord River Dam was completed and Lake Argyle was filled by 1974. Lake Argyle is located in the remote Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia. The vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion year old landscape is brimming with an abundance of wildlife and breath-taking colourful vistas.

After the cruise we’ll head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Lake Argyle Resort which has been designed and constructed specifically for the stunning Kimberley landscape overlooking the lake. Enjoy the delights of this property including the stunning infinity pool! 35 metres of infinity wet edge, spa, and some of the most breath-taking scenery of the Kimberley’s!

Once we’ve checked in and freshened up we’ll head out for our first walk of our journey. Lake Argyle Bluff Lookout Walk is a 5.3 kilometre easy trail.  Look out for the interesting wildlife you may see along the way. Birds, marsupials, reptiles, insects and maybe even an Echidna! Once we’ve walked out to the lookout we return the same way back to the resort. Tonight we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

Day 2: Pint Pot Bay Exploration Walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

This morning enjoy a hearty breakfast before we cruise across the lake to start our walk for the day. The boat will take us passed many bays and inlets that make this vast body of water so incredibly unique. We may see wallabies, wallaroos, fish, birdlife and freshwater crocs along the way. We will be dropped off to enjoy the Pint Pot Bay Exploration Walk, a 6-8km walk depending on which option you choose. This walk is part of the Southern Carr Boyd Ranges which, from afar, seem arid and barren. But once up close reveal their hidden delights with cool gorges, waterfalls, and lovely, fern-lined pools just begging for someone to swim in them! Some of the best bushwalking tracks in the Kimberley can be found here. This walk is trackless and a unique opportunity to walk in the Kimberly Wilderness. The walk is medium to hard in grade and ranges in terrain with some fairly steep parts onto the plateau, but once on top walking becomes easier and the amazing views on top of the Carr Boyd Ranges make it worthwhile. Optional: An additional 2 km diversion into Little Revolver Creek to a secluded waterpools is available to those who want to venture further. After our walk we’ll head back to Lake Argyle Resort for lunch and an afternoon dip in the stunning infinity pool taking in the beauty that surrounds us. Late this afternoon we’ll enjoy a private sunset cruise before enjoying dinner in the restaurant, served with wine.

Day 3: Lake Argyle to El Questro - Emma Gorge walk & El Questro Gorge walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

This morning after breakfast we’ll drive out to El Questro in the Eastern Kimberley where we’ll walk the Emma Gorge and El Questro Gorge. The drive will take around 2-hours. The Emma Gorge walk forms part of the Cockburn Ranges. This scenic trail takes us through a gorge characterised by cliff face escarpments reaching up to 120 metres high on both sides of the trail. See the ever-changing vegetation as you make your way along the gorge until you reach the crystal clear pools and a 65-metre waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pools to cool off.  After this walk we’ll enjoy a lunch before starting the El Questro Gorge walk (7.2 km – 3 to 5 hours) which takes you through a butterfly-filled rainforest and a boulder-strewn valley before arriving at the most beautiful waterfall. Enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear bathing hole and take in the rainforest’s splendour! After both of these fabulous walks we’ll head to our accommodation for the next two nights at Home Valley Station (staying in Riverside Suites) located on 615,000-acre historic cattle station which also has holiday accommodation. All visitors seeking a taste of the rugged Kimberley outback can stay at the Station and participate in a variety of activities. You may wish to enjoy a relaxing swim in the natural sapphire pool with views of ancient red gorges. Enjoy a delicious meal in The Dusty Bar and Grill tonight served with Australian wine.

Day 4: Mount Baldy Walk & Bindoola Falls Walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

This morning enjoy breakfast before we head out on our first walk of the day to Mount Baldy. Our walk starts at the front gate of Home Valley Station and is a 3.6 kilometre return walk. The summit offers fantastic panoramic views of Cockburn Ranges that are shaped like a vast round fortress and rise more than 600 metres above the plains. On return to Home Valley Station we’ll enjoy lunch before enjoying a shorter 1km walk to Bindoola Falls and billabong where you may want to have a swim. Once back at Home Valley enjoy some downtime before dinner, served with wine.

Day 5: Charter flight to Bungle Bungles - Heli Hiking Experience or Whip Snake Gorge Hike
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

This morning we are up early to have breakfast before taking a small private scenic charter flight to the Bungle Bungle Range. By flying from Home Valley Station to the Bungles we will be saving ourselves about 5 long hours in a bumpy car journey and instead we’ll enjoy a luxurious, smooth short flight each way with aerial vistas of one of the world’s most interesting geological sites! The world heritage listed Bungle Bungle Range is located within Purnululu National Park in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and are a series of orange and black sandstone domes rising 300 metres above the grass-covered plains below them.

Once we’ve landed you’ll have the choice of two Bungles experiences. See pricing page for Tour options.

Option 1: Heli -hiking
We join our helicopter and fly over the Bungle Bungles and lands in the heart of the Bungles. This area of the gorge is set deep inside the Bungle Domes and normally takes 3 days round trip to access. With our journey our helicopter drops us at the mouth of the gorge, allowing us the day to explore the best of this enormous gorge that spreads into five fingers as it cuts through the Bungle Bungle Range. Your guide will lead the hike into the gorge and tell you about the area’s cultural significance to the indigneous people and it’s unique history. After our walk, we fly back by helicopter and transfer to our accommodation in the Bungles. Enjoy a swim and a relaxing dinner with your new found friends.

Option 2: Whip Snake Gorge walk hike
Our guides will take the group on a 10km walk to pretty Whip Snake Gorge. Follow the Piccanniny Creek sculptured dry track through the striped bungles formations until we reach Whip Snake Gorge, a narrow gorge filled with ferns which end in a rock pool.

Afterwards, both groups will travel from the Bungle Bungle Range south to Halls Creek, passing the colourful rocks of the Kimberley region. The drive will take around 2h30minutes to our accommodation at the remote Halls Creek Motel, home of Russian Jacks Bar and Restaurant. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks (own expense) then join the group for a wonderful hearty dinner and chat about the day’s adventures.

Day 6: Mimbi Caves and Geikie Gorge
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

WALK GRADE: Mimbi Caves walking tour – 3 hours Easy Grade. Jarrambayah Trail/Geike Gorge Walk & cruise – 2 hours, Easy Grade.

TERRAIN: Flat walking on dirt and sandy tracks, with some sections of uneven, rocky and unmodified terrain.

WALK ITINERARY: This morning after breakfast, we enjoy an early start and head to the ancient limestone country around Fitzroy Crossing with its hidden caves and spectacular gorge.  You will start with an enlightening tour of the hidden Mimbi Caves guided by the traditional owners, the Gooniyandi people, who share a strong connection with Mimbi Caves and the surrounding country. On the walk, your local guides will share ancient Dreaming stories as well as traditional knowledge of local bush tucker, bush medicine and the native flora and fauna found around the cave system. Enjoy traditional Billie Tea and damper, made the traditional way using native seeds and cooked on a campfire while listening to the Gooniyandi Dreaming story of the Blue Tongue Lizard and the Mud Lark.  From here we depart Mimbi and continue to Fitzroy Crossing for lunch then it is on to the spectacular Geike Gorgefamed for its sheer white and grey walls and abundant wildlife. At the gorge we enjoy a cruise through the gorge, followed by a 4.4km return hike through this scenic and rare limestone-walled gorge before we make our way to Fitzroy River Lodge for our accommodation. Tonight we dine in the lodge restaurant, renowned for its focus on fresh, locally-inspired cuisines in conjunction with classic Australian favourites served with Australian wines.

Day 7: Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

WALK GRADE: Tunnel Creek Walk – 2km, 1.5 hours easy to Moderate Grade. Windjana Gorge Walk – 7km, 3 hours Easy to Moderate Grade.

TERRAIN: Flat walking. Tunnel Creek Walk can be wet, rocky and uneven underfoot, torches are essential. Windjana Gorge varies between sections of uneven, rocky and unmodified terrain and sandy riverbed walking.

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast, we set out on our day’s adventure. Today we explore Western Australia’s oldest cave system in Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek) National Park. This landmark feature is famous as the hideout used by Aboriginal warrior, freedom-fighter and leader Jandamarra, who was labelled an outlaw and killed outside its entrance in 1897. At Dimalurru you walk through an underground tunnel, formed by the flowing creek, and out the other side of the Napier Range. The track runs underground for 750 metresYou then continue travelling further north to walk in the gorgeous, shady reaches of Windjana Gorge. This is one of the Kimberley’s most stunning gorges, with water-streaked walls that rise majestically to heights of 100 metres. The Lennard River runs through Windjana Gorge in wet weather, but in the dry season it forms calm pools surrounded by shady trees. Here you can see fossilised marine life within the limestone of the gorge walls It is then time to enjoy the remote scenery of the Kimberley, dotted with the dramatic silhouettes of huge boab trees, as you experience the renowned Gibb River Road heading west to Derby. Enjoy a night’s rest at the Derby Lodge with a sumptuous meal at Neaps Restaurant served with wine, where the staff produce amazing food in this small outback town.

Day 8: Broome - Lurujarri Walk to Gantheume Point Walk
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

TRAIL NOTES: Lurujarri Walk to Gantheume Point Walk, 8km, 3hours. Easy Grade

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast this morning we walk part of the Lurujarri Heritage Trail. This 90km coastal trail follows a traditional songline through the land of the Goolarabooloo community. It was developed in 1987, by young indigenous leader Paddy Roe as a way to encourage members of the Goolarabooloo community to be walking the Country again, but also as a means of waking up non-Aboriginal people to a relationship with the land; to foster trust; friendship and empathy between the indigenous community and the wider Australian and International community. You will walk the section of trail that starts amongst the fascinating sculpted rocks of Gantheume Point before finishing your walk at your accommodation in time for sunset drinks. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore Broome on your own. Tonight come to dinner with the group and enjoy a superb two-course dinner accompanied with wine.

Your next two nights are spent at Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa with its chic accommodation nestled amongst lush gardens with a fusion of colonial charm and Asian influence, including a dedicated meditation area. Tonight we also enjoy the true taste of Broome. It’s said that 57 languages are spoken in the Shire of Broome. The result? A melting pot of local and international cuisine.

Day 9: Broome - Horizontal Falls or Pearl Farm tour
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

WALK ITINERARY: After breakfast, we make a short drive to the stunning Kimberley coast and the thriving, vibrant township of Broome. Internationally renowned for its pearls and its gorgeous Cable Beach, where visitors and locals gather each evening to watch the sunset into the Indian Ocean.

Today our clients have a choice of experiences (price varies depending on choice)

CHOICE 1: Horizontal Falls Experience.
For the ultimate Kimberley adventure, enjoy a half-day trip to view the amazing Horizontal Falls. The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow, closely aligned gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay north of Broome. The direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach 10 metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge. Depending on the tides your experience will either be a scenic flight travelling over the entire peninsula including the falls or an up-close journey by land, air and sea to witness this remarkable natural event.

CHOICE 2: Pearl Tour Farm:
Clients will enjoy a tour to discover the process of culturing pearls from the ‘seeding’ process to harvesting the magnificent gems. This experience will include a fascinating cruise to see the farming operations.

The remainder of the day is at leisure in Broome. Tonight enjoy dinner featuring the true taste of Broome accompanied by Australian wines. It’s said that 57 languages are spoken in the Shire of Broome. The result… a melting pot of local and international cuisine.

Day 10: Broome departure day
10 Day Kimberley to Broome Explorer – V7

ITINERARY: After breakfast we farewell the group. The remainder of the day is at leisure before your homebound flights.

FLIGHTS: Flights can be booked at any time during the day. The airport is a short 10-minute taxi ride from your accommodation.
