The West Highland Way is a shot of scotch for the soul!
Scotland is a lush, beautiful country, bursting with green spaces, abundant forests, scenic woodlands, towering mountains and vast lochs – and nothing showcases this better than the West Highland Way which you can experience on a 6-day pack-free guided walk.
Traditionally, the full West Highland Way covers 154km, starting at Milngavie near Glasgow and winding through the dramatic landscapes of the Highlands, including the bonny banks of Loch Lomond and the majestic Ben Nevis mountain range, before ending in Fort William.
Our itinerary focusses on the most stunning sections of the trail, covering up to 84km, with the flexibility to walk shorter distances or take a day at leisure to explore at your own pace.
The trail also provides a sense of remoteness and tranquillity, as it takes you through some of the country’s most untouched wilderness areas.
All the accommodation is charming and traditional, and as for the food, well let’s just say you won’t go hungry – and haggis will be available for those keen souls!
On the first night you’ll be staying at the superb Oak Tree Inn, situated on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond.
You’ll enjoy the warm hospitality of this award-winning Country Inn ideally located in the centre of Balmaha village and close to the shores of the Loch. The Inn features a superb bar and restaurant under the shade of a magnificent 500-year-old oak tree where you might be tempted to try the famous as-per-mentioned haggis!
One of our favourite days, is day four. After a hearty breakfast you head out for our day’s walking adventure. This day’s walk takes us from the Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse.
The West Highland Way is a shot of scotch for the soul, You’ll traverse the Rannoch Moor, the largest undeveloped wilderness area in the whole of Britain. This remote landscape composed of boggy moorlands, lochans, rivers, and rocky outcrops supports a variety of flora and fauna including curlews, grouse and red deer.
It’s known as the remotest and wildest section of the whole Way. We arrive at our accommodation at the iconic Kingshouse Hotel. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, the hotel has a backdrop of outstanding natural beauty. Relax by the cosy fires as you soak up the sensational views from the lounge and dining room areas.
That evening you dine in the stylish Kingshouse Restaurant indulging in sensational cuisine and perfectly matched wines.
