Sep 09, 2026

If you’re looking to explore a European destination that’s still relatively undiscovered, Slovenia should be at the top of your list. This compact country packs an incredible variety of landscapes into a relatively small area, making it ideal for a walking holiday.

Life’s An Adventure recently completed its first eight-day pack-free walking journey through Slovenia, and the feedback has been glowing. Guest Karen S described the experience as: “Absolutely amazing. Guide Abbey was a great leader, along with local guide Davide’s historical knowledge. 10 out of 10!” With the hard work of carrying luggage taken care of, walkers can concentrate on the scenery, food, culture and adventure.

This bespoke journey showcases Slovenia’s extraordinary diversity, beginning with the sparkling Adriatic coastline before heading inland through the vineyard-covered Karst Plateau. One of the highlights is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Škocjan Caves, where enormous underground chambers, deep canyons and spectacular limestone formations create one of Europe’s most impressive natural wonders – and that’s a big call!

As the journey continues north, the scenery becomes increasingly alpine. You’ll walk beside the crystal-clear Soča River, renowned for its vivid emerald-green waters, and visit the beautiful Kozjak Waterfall, tucked away in a dramatic rocky gorge. There’s also time to enjoy Lake Bohinj, one of Slovenia’s most spectacular alpine lakes, before strolling through the breathtaking Vintgar Gorge, where wooden walkways wind above rushing turquoise water.

The adventure finishes around the iconic Lake Bled, one of Europe’s great postcard-perfect destinations. Here, panoramic viewpoints, peaceful lakeside trails and magnificent mountain scenery provide a fitting finale, with the peaks and forests of Triglav National Park adding to the fairytale atmosphere.

From caves and coastlines to vineyards, waterfalls, alpine lakes and soaring mountains, this is Slovenia at its most spectacular – and, as Karen discovered, blimmin’ brilliant!
