Discover the geologist within on our 4-day Sapphire Coast Light to Light pack-free in southern NSW. This exceptional tour invites you to explore one of the region’s best-kept secrets, situated near Eden.

The 30km scenic trail winds its way from the historic Boyds Tower Lighthouse to the charming Green Cape Lighthouse, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and coastal charm.

Millions of years in the making this section of coastline is made up of some of the best examples of Devonian-era flora and fauna fossils. Devonian what?!

Ok quick geology lesson: The earth is 4.54 billion years old (give or take a day) and this timeframe is broken up into six periods, of which the Devonian period (about 380 million years ago) is one of them.

Long story short where you’re walking is really, really old and the fossils you could spot contain evidence of the first forests and first land animals on earth!

There are so many geological highlights, such as Red Point where you’ll see some of the oldest rocks in NSW, you’ll be pleased you have a guide to explain the basics to you.

You’ll start the walk on the morning of day 2 and after a hearty breakfast meet your guide in the foyer of the Seahorse Inn at 8am for transfer to the start of our walk.

From there you’ll begin your coastal trek at the northern end overlooking Twofold Bay from Boyds Tower and admire this historic sandstone building originally intended to be a lighthouse.

The 23m tower was built in 1847 of pyrmont sandstone blocks brought from Sydney and was initially intended to be used as a lighthouse by Scottish entrepreneur Benjamin Boyd as a base for his steamship company in Twofold Harbour.

However it was deemed unsuitable for the purpose by the Crown & was never commissioned.

Did you know Boyd’s Tower was struck by lightning in the 1860’s and as a result is missing a section from its top!
