Our Tarkine tour is getting an itinerary update. From January 2024 our 4-day Tarkine Wilderness pack-free guided walk will have an updated itinerary.

You’ll still enjoy the classic charm of this stunning region of the Apple Isle, but with added convenience and exploration time. Our tour now includes an arrival day accommodation in Smithton on day one, allowing you to settle in and unwind. This adjustment means more time to fully immerse yourself in the Tarkine wilderness on day two, exploring its ancient rainforests, wild rivers, and rugged coastlines without feeling rushed. This itinerary enhancement provides a richer experience of Tasmania’s breathtaking landscapes.

Few places remain that can genuinely be described as wild and untouched, yet the remote Tarkine is undoubtedly one of them. This vast, pristine region in Tasmania is a sanctuary of ancient rainforests, winding rivers, and rugged coastlines, offering a rare glimpse into a world untouched by modern development. With its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems, the Tarkine stands as one of Australia’s last true wilderness areas, inviting explorers to experience nature at its most raw and unspoiled.

This vast 447,000-hectare wilderness area is renowned for its remote waterfalls, stunning myrtle rainforests, pristine rivers, dramatic mountain tops and wild coastline.

The Tarkine’s size, naturalness and habitat diversity make it an outstanding refuge for native mammals such as the Tasmanian Devil as well as more than 130 different species of birds.

It is home to more than 60 rare, threatened and endangered species and is Australia’s largest tract of temperate rainforest.

This fantastic 4-day pack-free guided walk is for our guests who want to experience the remote Tarkine Wilderness, exploring three regions; the “Meredith Range” region, the ‘Heart of the Tarkine’ region, and ‘Corinna and Wild Coast’, so that you’ll experience all the Tarkine’s varied landscapes including rainforests, mountains and wild coast.
