Where did you grow up?
I came to Australia as a 7-year-old and grew up on the northern beaches of Sydney. Paradise!

What’s your earliest memory of walking in the great outdoors?
I started hiking in about 2002, taking students out on Duke of Edinburgh hikes. Walking through bushland allows time to think, slow down and process all the elements of our super busy lives! I always begin my day with an early morning walk.

What was the first pack-free guided walk you did with Life’s An Adventure and how did you enjoy it?
The first pack free guided walk I did with LAA was the Bay of Fires in Tasmania in early 2017. I planned to walk the Inca Trail for my 60th birthday later in 2017 and this was my first training walk. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bay of Fires and have grown to love Tasmania. The scenery was breathtaking, and the guides were knowledgeable, which made the walk even more enriching.

What is it about Life’s An Adventure’s tours that brings you back?
What draws me back to Life’s An Adventure is the attention to detail and the quality of the experience. The guides are always professional and passionate, and the walks are always stunning. The fact that everything is organized lets you truly relax and enjoy the adventure. The trips always offer a perfect balance of challenge and relaxation.

Another walk accomplished!

How have you found the guides on the walks?
The guides are exceptional! They are all very knowledgeable, friendly, and encouraging. They’re not just focused on getting us through the hike; they make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying the experience. They also share interesting stories about the history and nature of the area, which adds a whole new layer to the experience.

A tranquil beach scene with a clear blue sky and a rainbow arching over the water. Gentle waves lap the shore, and distant hills frame the horizon. The wet sand reflects the sky and rainbow, creating a serene atmosphere.

A lot of guests sing the praises of the food and wine on the tours. How have you found this?
The food and wine on the tours are a highlight. The quality and variety of the meals, which endeavour to take advantage of fresh, local ingredients, perfectly complement the regions we hike through. The wine is also a treat, and it’s always fun to sit down after a day of hiking and enjoy a glass while talking over the day’s adventures.

You’ve done 10 Life’s An Adventure tours, please share with us one enduring memory from any walk?
Every single one of the 13 walks I have done with LAA have at least one memorable experience so it’s a tough ask to have to narrow it down to just one.  Each tour has been so amazing in its own way. Whether it’s the stunning landscapes, the camaraderie with fellow hikers, or the incredible guides, each experience has been unforgettable.

Every tour has its own special moments. Amongst the highlights are summitting Cradle Mountain, clambering over the giant collapsed Jenga puzzle that is the way up! Walking up Mt Sonder on the Larapinta. Hearing whales talk to each other on the Light to Light in southern NSW. Having to make our own adventure on the Yuraygir because of flood and fire damage to the trail. Photographing a huge array of fungi on the Tarkine Wilderness Hike. Every tour has had its own special moments.
