Japan, has beaten Bali as the number one Asian destination for Australian holidaymakers heading overseas.

According to the Tourism and Transport Forum Australia’s (TTF) summer holiday survey, New Zealand has emerged as the top international destination for Australian travellers this year. Following New Zealand, Europe ranks second, with Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia also featuring prominently in Australians’ travel plans.

“Japan is becoming a favourite Aussie hotspot,” TTF chief executive Margy Osmond said.

“The people are incredibly welcoming, the food is delicious, the culture is endlessly fascinating and it’s also a great option for anyone who loves skiing or other snow sports, as many Australians do.”
