This pilgrim walk may not enjoy the same fame as some of our other Camino journeys, but those in the know understand that it is one of our finest experiences.

A circular stained glass window with a colorful geometric design features a central figure in red and blue robes surrounded by various symbols, set in a stone wall. Light filters through, illuminating the intricate artwork—a highlight on many walking tours.

With fewer pilgrims on the trail, you can enjoy a more peaceful and authentic Camino while still experiencing the history, culture and camaraderie that make this pilgrimage so special.

Beginning in the captivating city of Porto, the journey follows the traditional inland Camino through northern Portugal before crossing into Spain and finishing at the magnificent Santiago de Compostela. Along the way, you’ll walk through a landscape shaped by centuries of pilgrimage, passing rolling hills, peaceful forests, vineyards, historic towns and charming villages where life continues at a wonderfully relaxed pace. By completing the final 100km of the Camino, you’ll also qualify for the coveted Compostela pilgrim certificate – a fitting reward for your achievement.

Four people with backpacks embark on a walking tour, meandering along the narrow street of a village. A yellow arrow and shell symbol on a blue sign adorns a stone wall, marking the Camino de Santiago route. The sky is clear, and the weather is bright and sunny.

We’ve carefully selected the inland route because we believe it delivers the most rewarding overall experience. While the coastal Camino has its own appeal, the inland route offers a wonderful combination of scenery, history and authentic village life, with quieter trails and a constantly changing landscape. Each day brings something different, from ancient churches and stone villages to open countryside and welcoming local cafés and restaurants.

And because this is a pack-free guided walk, you can concentrate on enjoying the journey rather than worrying about what’s on your back. Your luggage is transferred each day, leaving you free to walk with just a light daypack and soak up the experience.

A large, well-lit courtyard at dusk exudes the charm of Portuguese Walking Holidays, with a central building featuring arched windows and a staircase. Two wings extend on either side with red-tiled roofs, reminiscent of scenic Camino walking experiences, all set against a clear blue sky.

After rewarding days on the trail, you’ll relax in exceptional comfort, spending four nights in exclusive Parador hotels. Renowned for their character, outstanding cuisine and luxurious surroundings, these remarkable properties elevate the journey from an unforgettable walk to an extraordinary Camino experience.
