TRAIL NOTES: Emma Gorge: 3.5kms. Grade: Medium-hard. El Questro Gorge: 2.5 kms. Approx 2 hours. Medium. Terrain: Some section rocky creek bed requiring good level of fitness & agility. Walking poles suggested.

ITINERARY: This morning we’ll enjoy breakfast at Kimberley Grand Resort before driving out to El Questro where we’ll walk both Emma Gorge and El Questro Gorge. We’ll start by walking Emma Gorge – an medium grade walk to begin, with some trickier rock scrambling sections towards the top, the walk is a partially shaded, three hour return walk, including the very rewarding swim in the large cooling waterhole at the top. After this walk, we’ll head to the Emma Gorge Restaurant for lunch before driving to El Questro Gorge.  The walk at El Questro Gorge takes us along a narrow spring-fed creek through palm and fern clad escarpments to a small, crystal clear swimming hole. Here we can relax and take in the beauty of the rainforest. This walk features cliffs on the western and northern side that rise up to 375m and are mostly made up of ancient sandstone. Take another refreshing swim in the gorgeous clear water before we make way to El Questro Station where we’ll spend the next two nights. Our accommodation is in the Station Glamping Tents that feature a queen bed, air-conditioning, power points and shared bathroom facilities. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the steakhouse, pared with local Western Australian wine.

Day 3: Zebedee Springs & Champagne Springs Walk

TRAIL NOTES: Zebedee Springs. Easy short walk with a relaxing soak in the hot springs / Champagne Springs Walk: 9.6kms, 5-6 hours of walking Terrain: Rocky creek bed requiring good level of fitness & agility. Walking poles suggested. Enjoy a challenging, partially shaded walk. Moderately difficult with some rugged creek crossings.

ITINERARY: This morning enjoy breakfast before we travel 20-minutes to Zebedee Springs, a natural oasis found after a short, easy walk. The trail leads us through dense Livistona Palms to a series of rocky thermal pools. The thermal springs are the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty that surrounds us. Next we’ll walk to the beautiful Champagne Springs. The riverside trail is long and filled with broken terrain, particularly in the second half of the hike. However, it’s true what they say about there being no pain no gain so once you reach the top you’ll be rewarded with cooling pools, lush scenery and a cascading waterfall. We’ll enjoy a swim & lunch at the top before walking back to camp where you can relax around the natural waterhole at the station or grab a drink and watch the live music at the bar.
