Tour Itinerary

Day OneGETTING THERE
3 day Freycinet National Park walk

Hobart to Freycinet National Park - Wineglass Bay

The day starts in Hobart where you will meet at the Hotel Grand Chancellor at 8.00am for a 8.15am departure. From here you will be driven south east to beautiful Coles Bay the start location of our walk. Established in 1916, Freycinet National Park is one of the state’s oldest and best known parks. Red granite peaks and beautiful beaches are set against the blue ocean to create a truly beautiful setting. Today we will enjoy a great walk to famous sweeping curve of sand known as Wineglass Bay, voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

We follow the Hazards beach track and follow the scenic trail along the magnificent Hazards for amazing views. Arrive at the Freycinet Lodge our accommodation for the next 2 nights. Tonight the group will enjoy a wonderful dinner in the Bay Restaurant featuring local Tasmanian produce.

Day TwoCRUISE
3 day Freycinet National Park walk

East Freycinet Saddle Mount Graham - Wineglass Bay

After a hearty breakfast, we join our sailing boat for a wonderful cruise from Coles Bay to Cooks Beach on the southern end of the National Park. Our walk takes us up the East Freycinet Saddle over Mount Graham, this is a challenging day but the variety in grades of walking and in the scenery, combined with the abundant birdlife and mammal activity make this the most enjoyable section of the track.

From this elevation we will enjoy superb panoramic views over the southern end of Freycinet National Park and Schouten Island. From here we head past Wineglass Bay to Freycinet Lodge, with time to shower and freshen up before the group gets together for dinner in the Bay Restaurant. The end to a remarkable day.

Note: For those who are not fit enough to attempt this walk, we have an alternative easier walk available for this day. Please indicate this on your booking.

Day Three
3 day Freycinet National Park walk

Mt Amos

After breakfast, we head off for our final walk to Mt Amos. Mt Amos is part of the range of granite mountains, known as the Hazards, which towers over Coles Bay. The track to the summit is steep with some boulder scrambling but walkers are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views.

Note: If the group is not up to this walk after yesterday’s challenging day we will alternate this itinerary to include easier walks to Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville or Friendly Beaches.

We head back to Hobart with lunch at a local Vineyard for a celebratory wine tasting, a great way to finish the tour.

We arrive at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart, the end of a remarkable journey. Finish time will depend on the pace of the group but will be approximately 4.00pm. If booking flights please do not book before 6.30pm.
