3 Day Walk Bay of Fires

Join Life’s An Adventure on a fantastic 3 day Bay of Fires walk. Situated on the east coast of Tasmania in Australia this magical landscape of stunning contrasts features pure white beaches, vivid orange granite boulders and a ribbon of sapphire and emerald seas, all fringed with rich forests. In 2009, the Bay of Fires area was named one of the world’s hottest travel destination by international guide book Lonely Planet, once you experience it first hand, you’ll understand why. They say “This is the secret edge of Tasmania, laid out like a pirate’s treasure map of perfect beach after sheltered cove, all fringed with forest. It’s not long since the Bay of Fires came to international attention and the crowds are bound to flock. Now is the time to visit”.

Tour Itinerary

Day One
3 day Bay of Fires walk

Launceston - Mt William National Park to Deep Creek

The day starts in Launceston at the Hotel Grand Chancellor where you will meet our guides at 8.45am for a 9.00am departure for our transfer to the Bay of Fires.

We enjoy a scenic drive winding through rich farmlands to the northern part of Mount William National Park. We begin our walking adventure from the Mt William National Park enjoying breathtaking, remote and untouched wilderness areas.

We head south discovering spectacular landscapes of remote castaway coves This area is likened to an impressionist’s palette featuring a ribbon of sapphire seas contrasting with pure white sands and burnt orange rocky outcrops. We explore scenic Boulder Point and Cobbler Rocks and look out for the local fauna coming out to graze on the marsupial lawns at Cod Bay. Our walk today is a medium grade 13kms with sand walking and rocky headlands to negotiate.

We arrive at Deep Creek for a short 15 minute transfer to our waterfront accommodation. Sit back and relax as our guides provide a delicious dinner served with Tasmanian Ninth Island wine for your enjoyment.

Day Two
3 day Bay of Fires walk

Deep Creek to Ansons Bay

After a hearty breakfast, we take a short transfer back to the trail and set off south stopping at breathtaking Picnic Point, a beautiful spot to relax and a photographers paradise.

We continue on to Eddystone Point the start of the Bay of Fires Conservation area, where an impressive pink granite lighthouse built in 1889 sits on a point that juts out into the sea. We seek out the local wombats and echidnas which are prolific in this area, as well as Crested Turns searching for crabs and maybe even a pod of playful dolphins.

We finish with a 4km walk along a bush track to Ansons Bay, arriving at our waterfront Beachshack. Enjoy a delicious dinner outdoors with views over the bay served with Tasmanian Ninth Island wine and beer.

Day Three
3 day Bay of Fires walk

Ansons Bay to The Gardens

After breakfast, we continue our walk into one of the most untouched parts of the Bay of Fires.

This is a magnificent day’s walk into remote wilderness, where it is unlikely you will see another person on the beach other than those in our group. See pretty Sienna’s mermaid pool, cool lagoons and an abundance of twisted driftwood as we explore Break Yake Beach, and Garden Lagoon Beach.

We’ll stop for lunch in a picturesque location with time to explore the rock pools before walking to our final destination The Gardens. From here we join our vehicle and enjoy a short stop in the pretty fishing village of St Helens before heading back to Launceston, where our tour finishes at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston, the end of a remarkable journey. Finish time will depend on the pace of the group but will be approximately 5.30pm to 6.00pm. If booking flights please do not book before 6.30pm.

One of the main reasons why we returned to the Company was the quality of the guiding. Barry is a consummate professional, always helpful and knowledgable. The meals were excellent - this has yet again impressed us. After a great days walking it was wonderful to return to cold drinks and excellent nibbles, followed by a superbly cooked dinner. Beachshack was excellent - A wonderful convivial place with everything we needed to enjoy the company of our new fellow trippers. A four star lodge just would not have been the same.

Thought Barry - was a superb guide - really took the time to explain what we were seeing, and also made sure the group was held together and not walking too far apart from each other. The Beach shack was fabulous. Food was great - well cooked and presented and a great range of variety. Very fresh. Loved the wines and the nibbles on returning after a day walking. Everything was to and above my expectation.

Barry was the perfect mix of enthusiastic, knowledgeable and quirky. Susan was great as a host and an amazing chef. Heaps and heaps of delicious food with plenty of options. Especially impressed with the accommodation of my need for a gluten free diet. Fantastic. Beachshack was excellent. I think the way you have pitched it is perfect. You play down expectations a bit and then over deliver. Will recommend
