social kayaking bayview to mccarrs creek  - pittwater

Explore the magnificent waterways of Pittwater on this beautiful trip. We'll paddle out through the sailing boats at Bayview to McCarrs Creek. Enjoy the serenity as we follow the creek up a valley with steeply sloping woodlands. This area is remote and tranquil and only accessible by boat or on foot through the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced kayaker, this will be a fun day out and a great way to mix and meet new people.

what to bring

To ensure you keep well hydrated, please bring at least 1.5 litres of
drinking water. We also recommend sunscreen and if you want to enjoy a swim bring your swimming costume and a towel. If you wish to bring a camera keep it in a dry bag or a ziplock bag. An don't forget to bring any special medications you might need. It's a good idea to bring a towel and change of clothes for after the kayak. Bring a jacket or raincoat if wet and/or cold. A PFD (life jacket) will be provided for you and spray skirts if windy or cold.

what to wear

You will get wet when kayaking from paddle splash, so please wear comfortable
lightweight clothes (no jeans), wear a hat and crocs or shoes which can get wet when entering and exiting the kayak. Bring your swimming costume if you would
like to enjoy a swim.

will bad weather affect my tour?

Rain will not cause the cancellation of a kayak tour, in fact some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain. High winds, thunderstorms and high seas on the other hand can cause cancellations. If any of these conditions are strong enough on the day to cause potential safety risks, we will where possible, have an alternative location planned which isn't affected by these conditions. If this is not possible we will postpone the kayak tour to another date. Pre-paid tickets will be credited to the new date or another future event, sorry we cannot refund your money.

fitness level

This paddle is suitable for all persons of reasonable fitness from beginners to advanced. Half Day Paddle - 3 hours duration.

can beginners
do this trip

Yes we welcome beginners. Before each paddle we will provide comprehensive kayaking tuition on correct techniques and safety to ensure your experience is a comfortable and enjoyable one. As we paddle in double kayaks we will try and match beginners with stronger paddlers if they are having difficulty, there will be ample stops to rest and have a break. We recommend first time paddlers to book one of our half day tours of 3 hours duration or complete a kayaking skills class before attempting full day or overnight trips.

I'm worried about capsizing

Rest easy. We use state-of-the art Dagger Sea Kayaks. These are enclosed kayaks - not the "sit on top" variety, as such they are extremely stable and easy to manoeuvre. The chances of a capsizing these kayaks are very remote and they are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments. You'll also be wearing a PFD (life-vest at all times).
