mt solitary overnight hike

View the famous Three Sisters from an entirely new angle! Camp overnight on the top of Mount Solitary, away from the crowds, in the heart of the Jamison Valley wilderness. Mount Solitary is a massive isolated plateau about 4 km long, surrounded by sheer sandstone cliffs rising 165 metres above the valley floor. It dominates the southern part of Jamieson Valley and incorporates Ruined castle. A hike with challenges, history and views. It is an ideal overnight hike.

This two day hike south of Katoomba provides stunning views across the Jamison Valley and back north to the Katoomba escarpment. Although moderate fitness is required, the hike is memorable for its amazing pathway, which passes below the Ruined Castle, past mining ruins, crosses streams and winds its way through a diverse range of ecosystems
